@gyoukukens and I's pronouns on our Discords-
relationships worked like a tide; pushing, pulling, crashing onto land, never getting further than the sand and sediment it grabs back into it. those sediments trickle and float about, feelings adrift until it connects to land elsewhere. yūji's feelings feel a lot like that, as if the sand from his beach is floating about but he knows where he's going, where he wants it to go. often times those feelings and motions pull him towards megumi, the other boy being a source of comfort. there's just something about being in his presence that was undoubtedly comforting despite the lives they lived.
he hadn't meant to bother megumi in the middle of his book — whatever it was about, it wasn't a comic book or manga and there were too many words. he would have happily sat in silence with him, but megumi's attention immediately being 100% his filled him with a sort of gratification akin to a puppy being noticed by it's owner.
he beams, “hey there.” in all his cheeky boyish charm he can't help the grin on his face as he settles in for a while of silent reading time. his gaze goes back up to megumi, book closed now and a prompt to spend time together is presented. “ooh that sounds great. i'm hungry, yeah.” yūji is a bit reluctant to get off of him, missing the subtle body heat radiating off of megumi. “where d'ya wanna eat, fushiguro,” he offers as he is nowhere near a picky eater.

casually slides his credit card back on his desk and whistles innocently. definitely didn't buy something expensive. nope...
Unprompted.
Satoru's smile is amused as he picks the card between two manicured fingers, turning it in front of his blindfold as if to see exactly how much Megumi spent.
"You don't need to feel guilty, or even pretend to, by the matter." he reassures, the corner of his mouth turning into a smirk, "The Gojo clan is rotting on money. Were you to walk into a high fashion store and buy everything, the numbers would still be high enough as to last for generations." a single finger is placed atop the card, sliding it back towards Megumi, "You can keep this one for yourself, I've got more. Get yourself something pretty or go eat out with your friends. You're young only once, so live a little, alright?"
“ for you. ” he says without much emotion in his tone, handing over a large basket of sweets &. decorated with fake flowers even a bow on top of it all. even if megumi never seemed like the type to care or anything, deep down he had a bit of a soft spot for the people he cared about. he struggled expressing his emotions through words sometimes — maybe even struggling to realize he had the freedom to have a heart. that he wouldn't be doomed to become a zen'in.
“ imported chocolate from europe. some artisan sweets from hokkaido. custom-ordered birthday cupcakes with real gold foil. something as well that may not be as important . . . as well as something a bit more special. ” listing off all the goods included before megumi then points at the front of the basket, ignoring the fact that he spent a fortune on this present.
a framed picture of a younger self of the both, one where megumi smiled. an inexpensive gift is what most would say but to them it was more than just that — priceless. it was the year a little boy had been adopted by someone important to him.
“ it was the day where it snowed on your birthday. i know you miss our father-son activities, if we can call them that . . . so i remembered when we took this picture. ” even if megumi seemed embarrassed about it, he did have a fondness for his mentor &. father. “ i had hoped it snows again today so we could re - take this picture now seeing as i've grown. i just didn't know if you had the time for it again so maybe now is a good time to ask ? ”
a subtle way to say he misses spending time with someone he looks up to — may have not given his time &. attention to. it was his way of saying happy birthday &. thank you for everything without using those words.
@gyoukukens making Gojo emotional fr fr
The best gift a parent can receive on their birthday is a heartfelt acknowledgment from their child. Unlike material presents, the act of remembering and celebrating thre parent's birthday reflects love, respect, and gratitude—the very values that the guardian hopes to instill in their children. Amidst the busyness of life, Megumi has taken the time to honor this day and to Gojo this already speaks volumes.
Gojo knows Megumi is not little anymore but to him he’ll always be his little cub. He doesn’t immediately say anything aside from clasping his hands together in visible giddiness, prior to accepting the basket in one hand as he raises it up to look it over. The flowers and the bows capture his attention the most, noting Megumi has made the effort to decorate the basket nicely. It makes him dramatically press a hand to his chest, as though he’s been struck by an arrow.
“ Megumii! Wow! ” he exclaims, voice dripping with astonishment. Happiness quickly bubbles to the surface as he imagines Megumi carefully choosing the sweets and preparing the gift. Someone as reserved as Megumi going out of his way to celebrate his birthday—the thought alone brings a flicker of genuine joy to Satoru’s expression.
The moment he discovers that his urchin has made a framed picture of their younger selves together is profoundly emotional and layered with meaning. The gesture also stirs a quiet pang of nostalgia deep within him, a reminder of days gone by.
There’s a swell of pride in knowing his son values and cherishes those moments enough to immortalize them. It’s as though time collapses—their past, their present, and the legacy of their familial love all in a single frame. The gesture feels like a silent “ thank you, ” a tribute to the guidance, and shared history that shaped their relationship. It’s deeply touching, perhaps even overwhelming, as the framed picture symbolizes not just a memory but a celebration of the unbreakable connection they hold. Tears brim in Gojo's covered eyes as he's taken over by a sense of being truly seen and appreciated.
“ Ah, look at us—I remember this day like it was yesterday. ”
He moves over, bringing an arm around Megumi’s shoulder before he lightly presses his cheek on top of his unruly black hair.
“ I’m so proud of you, Megumi. Thank you for reminding me how far we’ve come, and for showing me that those little moments mattered to you, too. ” He withdraws a little afterward to face him again. He displays a grin as he nods. “ I have all the time in the world for you, don’t worry! Let’s take the photo. ”
The photos will be placed side-by-side.
“ will i ever be enough to follow in your stead? ”
@gyoukukens
As Gojo stands there, watching Megumi wrestle with his doubts, a rare stillness settles over him. Despite his usual carefree demeanor, moments like these sharpen his mind, allowing him to focus entirely on the young man in front of him. Megumi is no ordinary student, and Gojo knows that better than anyone.
Memories flash like a film record: the first time he met Megumi, a quiet boy with sharp eyes and a defensive posture. He remembers the walls Megumi had built around himself, the way he always carried a weight far heavier than someone his age should. And yet, there has always been something about him—a spark, a grit—that Gojo recognized instantly. It was the same drive he’d seen in himself long ago, though channeled through a very different lens.
“ Enough? ” Gojo repeats, almost incredulously. How silly that such a question could even cross Megumi’s mind.
“ You’re not here to fill my shoes, Megumi. That’s not the point. You’re here to walk your own path. And if you’re worried about being as strong as me? Let me make something clear. ” He steps closer and places a firm yet gentle hand on Megumi’s shoulder. “ I don’t just think you can match me—I think you can surpass me. Yeah, I see it in you. ” His voice is laced with conviction—not just for Megumi’s sake, but because he genuinely believed it.
He’s going to surpass me one day. I can feel it. Not because he’s like me, but because he’s not. He’s carving his own path, and it’s going to take him farther than he realizes.
“ You’ve got what it takes, Megumi. You just need to trust yourself as much as I do. ”
@gyoukukens is driving me closer to the edge of insanity with the topic of megkuna
good thinking going on in itafushi land
❛ for some reason, i’m attracted to you. ❜
yūji wasn't sure what he should have expected when it comes to megumi pulling him aside. was it about their mission briefing, or about nobara since they sent her ahead? megumi's quietness has him a little on edge, but when it seems like fushiguro found a relatively quiet place, he turns to face him. yūji tilts his head, megumi's words coming out soft, a little roundabout.
“y'know, fushiguro,” yūji starts, rubbing the back of his neck. “i'm not gunna understand anything unless you say it properly. i promise i won't laugh at ya or anything. you can tell me.” yūji tacks on his signature trusting smile. whatever it was megumi has to say to him yūji will be the most respectful about it.
blink. blink.
well that... — that wasn't something he expected. yūji opens his mouth and closes it uselessly, thoughts dying off before he could speak, his face flushing redder as he comes to the realization of megumi's words to him. megumi found him attractive? megumi is confessing to him? megumi likes him? megumi like-likes him? “o-oh..,” yūji breathes out softly, tugging at the hood of his uniform. he's smiling, big dumb and goofily looking at megumi. but then he is looking at him, a bit confused, “uhm... for some reason? whaddya mean, fushiguro? er... i don't think its bad or gross, if you mean that. i think you're attractive too.”
