When what you see may not be true. Spirk / Spones Might Not Slash?
Two months ago, I read many Star Trek’s fan fiction. They make me excited, fun, depressed, and so on. And, I'm so serious that my friends have to warn, "You can't expect reason from fan fiction, because they are fantasy! And those authors are not scientists!" Okay, she was right, I was crazy trying to apply logic to everything. However, 'FTM Spock' is interesting. But since Reboot 2009, it was quite clear that Spock was born. Spock was born with a male body. So, I am sure he is 'XX male syndrome', which the fetus with XX chromosome develops into a male baby.
If you are precise in science, you will find that "It is impossible for Vulcans and humans to be able to have babies together by natural means". Or in order for it to happen, you have to suppose
1. They have the genetic code similar to us. 2. They have the same number of chromosomes as us. 3. Their sex chromosomes like us (XX = female, XY = male ').
Vulcan's blood is copper, human blood is iron! You need many techniques for eggs and sperm to mix together! You will have to make sure that many human DNA will not be able to work, so that he has almost all physiology as Vulcan. He cannot really be a half-vulcan human, because it will cause difficulty in care if he is sick. And, you want XX, because XY can't survive in this abnormal condition. Spock is a true scientific miracle and is a 'XX male syndrome'. When looking at a scene in which Spock is bullied by three boys, they may not be older. Maybe Spock might have to get Testosterone later.
It was good that the concept ‘Spock had a child and Saavik’ was finally eliminated, because it was not scientifically possible. Some people tell me, "Sarek must make sure that his son can have heirs." But, take logic seriously, how much money Sarek requires money and effort !? At that point he had to think of Spock's heirs' ability, especially when he realized that Spock's penis was coincidence!
But it does not mean that Spock cannot have heirs. We can not force his body to produce sperm, but may be forced to produce egg cells. I have read the animation that Spock made McCoy or Kirk pregnant and had difficulty imagining about how Spock's egg cells spiked up on the womb of those men (if they have womd but... How long the egg can enter? How many days do they have to hold their feces so that will not chase Spock's egg away?) Maybe, female Vulcans's egg cells can match (if produce 2 egg cells at the same time = virgins pregnant). There is an experiment in China that confirms that babies can be created from egg cell pairing (but between sperm fails). So, Spock may have a child with Uhura with the help of scientists.
Well .. Spirk / Spones are shiping between 'XX and XY', if you look deep in their blood. I'm not sure how much Starfleet is open about sex, but guess all the crew knew and choice to throw him into the box of men or women. Does Jim and Leonard think their Vulcan are girl or guy? If they can fall in love with Spock without they being gay? Nyota and Christine might not care if their boyfriends are female (but T'Pring care too much!?) Or maybe Nyota will choose Spock because of this(?), she doesn't have a romantic relationship with mans in TOS. The concept of gender and identity is complex, and everyone should have different views.
