Mitigate Facebook hack; prevention strategy
The impact of Facebook on the current generation is not small. Facebook has started to influence the lives of people extensively and today’s generation is addicted to social media including Facebook. Due to the same reason, the total number of users of Facebook has raised to 2 billion in this short period. Today Facebook is considered as one of the established social media platforms on the internet.
This establishment and popularity gained a lot of Facebook hackers too. They started performing Facebook hack using malicious bugs, viruses, worms and Trojans. They also created scams and spam so that they can easily compromise accounts. Let us discuss some tips that help us secure your account from Facebook hacking.
#1 While creating a new Facebook account, keep and strong and unbreakable password for your account. The strength of the password increases when you use a combination of characters, letters, numbers, special symbols like @, #, $, etc. When you use this combination, it will be difficult for hackers to hack your Facebook account. For example, in the case of a Brute Force attack, the hackers deploy software that analyses the passwords in the text file on your account known as a dictionary text file. The possible way to get out of this trap is to use a different password, than using one which can be easily guessed. Also, never use the same passwords for more than one account. For instance, if you create a Facebook password, never use the same for email and other social media platforms. This is because even if one account is compromised, the others will remain safe.
#2 Make use of the official Facebook website for logging into your account. Never use any third-party applications for that. Whenever you are login into your account, make sure that the page has the official Facebook logo and web domain, http://www.Facebook.com. Hackers mostly create a fake login page that looks similar to the official one. Before entering your login credentials check the authenticity of the web page. Sometimes hackers will send you web pages saying that you have accidentally logged out of Facebook. They will also attach a link through which you can log in. Be careful when you encounter such situations, these links will be infected, and when you log in through them hackers could get hold of your login credentials and this can lead to Facebook hacking.
#3 Secure your account using Security questions. The security question is one of the powerful methods to protect your account from Facebook hackers. They help you to regain access to your account in any situation. Even if you lose access to your email which is linked to your Facebook account, still you can gain back your Facebook account by answering the security questions. You can enable this setting by visiting your account settings. Try to select questions that cannot be guessed easily.
#4 Link your mobile with your Facebook account. This can protect your account from a malicious Facebook hack. In case you lose access to your account, you can retrieve them by using that number. In this case, the Facebook administration will send an OTP to the registered number using which you can take back your account.
#5 Never accept a friend request from strangers. When you get a request from people, check the genuinity of the account and the mutual friends' list. When they are having more than three mutual friends then it can be someone which you may know, but if the mutual friends' list is below 3 or does not have any, there are chances that the request is from a compromised account. Experienced threat actors can hack Facebook that is friends with. So to protect yourself from the Facebook hack, it is better to accept people whom you know.
#6 Last but not least, have strong antivirus software in your system/device. Try to install advanced antivirus solutions, so that they can detect and block all the modern threats. In addition, install a good anti-spyware program. Try to perform regular scans and change the passwords during fixed intervals.
By following these 6 simple steps, you can safeguard your account from the Facebook hack and keep them safe and sound.
I think the main lesson to be learnt here is "be careful with your facebook password" Apparently I upset someone in Quebec? I woke up to the 'go kill yourself' message and shared it with my friends as the lady who had apparently sent it had blocked me immediately after sending it so I couldn't ask her 'wtf?' One of my friends managed to contact her and she denied sending the message. Looking at 2 of her previous posts, I want to believe her. My friend led her to where FB records IP addresses and she discovered that she had been hacked. She claims she couldn't find me on FB which might be because I was blocked from her account. Part of me believes her but the thee part doesn't. But that's not the point of this post, if I wanted her name out there I wouldn't have covered it. The main lessons here are: 1 - be careful about your social media accounts. 2 - don't send hateful messages. Yeah? Because in this day and age, these messages don't (and shouldn't) stay private.
Let's Keep Clear The Difference Between Being Hacked And Cloned On Facebook
Let’s Keep Clear The Difference Between Being Hacked And Cloned On Facebook
I keep seeing people indicate that they’ve been hacked on Facebook when I’m pretty sure they meant their account was cloned. There are different things that can happen and I really want to keep them separate. How we interact with you depends on what happened. Hacked generally means someone tricked you into giving up your password and/or managed to crack it. The malefactor can then post as you,…
