Rust

Did you know that Mars is so old that it's literally rusting?

I didn't find it out on my own. I stole that line from The Martian. It really has nothing to do with me. I'm not that old. I'm 22. Barely 20% through my life.

But I'm rusty. I don't mean red or powdery, or even made up of a chemical reaction when iron is exposed to oxygen and water. Oxidation. Mars is a desert of rust. (again from The Martian.)

My vocal chords are rusty. I don't hardly use them. I can count the number of times I use my voice in a normal day on one hand.

The air I breathe is oxygen and water but my throat is not iron. If it was I think I would be stronger than I am.

I wonder sometimes if I'll forget how to speak. I've already started to forget what a conversation is.

The internet says rust can be stopped with phosphoric acid. It's corrosive to metal. They put it in coke. Apparently that's what gives soft drinks tangy flavor. I call it spicy even though it isn't. I call it spicy in my head.

I make jokes in my head. My idols are in my head too. They let me talk to them. They laugh at my jokes. They let me be the main character. I'm not rusty in my head.

I get sad when I remember the idols I idolize are not the people I've made up in my head. Maybe the rust from my throat has gone to my head. My brain is being exposed to oxygen and water and turning to rust. My brain is being Oxidized. My brain is Mars. (that one was mine.)

CNCO reacting to their SO giving birth pt. 1

If anyone feels like requesting something feel free to do so, if I get inspired I will write it! Because ya know without inspiration it’s a little difficult to write lol

Christopher

So the baby is a few days late

Just like their dad

Your five days past your due date and Chris is getting a little impatient

“I wanna meet my little monkey”

“Me too cariño, our baby can come any moment now.”

“Is it okay if I film it to show the fans?”

“ChrIS NO”

Around 3 pm you start feeling contractions

You call Chris and you two start timing them

When they’re getting closer to each other Chris suggests you go to the hospital

And so you do, you get in the car with his help but halfway through your water breaks

“Chris.. my water just broke..”

He’ll start freaking out a little but you make it to the hospital in time

When you’re all set up and ready to push Chris is right by your side

You squeeze his hand hard and he screams

Christopher’s screams are so loud, they’re louder than yours

The nurses will be profesional but will definitely laugh and joke about it later

When your baby girl is born Chris gets to hold her first

Smiles, kisses your forehead and tells you how proud he is.

“She’s so beautiful amor, look!”

Hands you your baby girl and snaps a few pictures for sure

Zabdiel

You’re way past your due date

The baby is just so comfortable and apparently isn’t planning on greeting you and Zabdiel anytime soon

But they won’t let you walk around pregnant for longer than 42 weeks

So the birth is induced

Zabdiel is very calm and makes sure you’re okay on your way to the hospital

It’s just like a normal car ride because the birth hasn’t started yet

“Mi amor, we’re gonna meet our baby girl soon!”

Is so excited and smiles the entire ride

When you arrive they assign you a room and get everything ready for you to give birth

Zabdiel is holding your hand the entire time

With induced births it usually takes longer but not for you

Baby is out within a couple of hours

When Zabdiel sees his baby girl for the first time he cries

And when he gets to hold her he cried again

And then when he sees his two girls together and you’re holding your baby girl skin to skin he’ll definitely wipe away some tears yet again

“I’m so proud of you amor.”

“She’s so beautiful.”

“My two girls look so beautiful.”

Takes a few pictures but will keep them to himself

Obviously let’s his and your family know as soon as he can

It’ll take a few days or maybe weeks before he’s ready to share his baby girl with the fans

But there are only positive reactions so Zabdiel is a proud and happy dad

Erick

“Mami! You’re due today!”

“I know Erick, and I know you’re excited but the chance that the baby comes today is not that big.”

“But still!”

Erick is a little nervous but tries to hide it with jokes

And then it happens

You starts feeling cramps and somehow you just know

“Erick, amor, I need your help.”

Erick rushes to your side, ready to do whatever it takes.

“I’m hurting.. can we please go to the hospital?”

“Hi hurting, I’m dad..”

“ERICK I SWEAR”

“Lo siento, I’m so sorry. Let’s go to the hospital baby.”

Practically carries you and your hospital bag to the car

The drive to the hospital was unbearable but you got there and everything seemed to go just fine

Until you hear the doctor say they lost the baby’s heartbeat

So they quickly prep you for an emergency c-section

At this point Erick has stopped joking and has become very serious

Like he’ll ask just the right questions and behaves really well

Will not leave you alone for a second

Is so smiley when he gets to hold his son for the first time

Gives you an Eskimo kiss before he shows you your baby boy

“Thank you for giving me this miracle, baby. I love you so much.”

My mom and I visited a friend of hers, who's been battling cancer for awhile now, the other day. It was her birthday and my mom had gathered up birthday cards from all these people who knew the friend from her cross-stitch business she's had since the early 2000s.

Anyway, they were talking and I was just listening awkwardly because I had no idea what to do with myself. At one point they were talking about how many things she doesn't take for granted anymore. It was such a sweet notion, and the ability to give every little thing in life the attention it deserves is something everyone should have, but that isn't what touched me during our visit.

At one point she pulled out the gift from my mom that had a rainbow on it. When her friend saw it, she got so happy. My mom told her she had picked it specifically because of the rainbow. Her friend replied that when anyone asks her favorite color, she says all of them.

And for some reason that was the bit that stuck with me the most, and still makes me incredibly happy when I remember it. Because somehow it never occurred to me that ALL the colors could be my favorite. I used to cycle through favorite colors, picking a new one based on the the deepest or most superficial things.

Whenever someone said they didn't have a favorite, or that once you grow up you just don't have a favorite anymore, it made me sad. What was the point of growing up if you lose all of the innocent things like picking out sneakers or a new jacket just because it was blue or yellow or chartreuse?

So I was determined to have a favorite color through my whole life. Even if it changed randomly. But hearing her say "all of them" changed my whole thinking.

I can't describe how "all of them" is different from "none" or "I don't have one," it just is. And I think it makes a world of difference when thinking about the outcomes of life.

Instead of being the boring grown up without a favorite color that you dread becoming, why not be the adult who buys things in all colors, completely mismatching colors and patterns and furniture, whose favorite color is "all of them."

Richard

Richard’s baby is a stubborn one

He’s lying in a breech position and he would not turn

The doctors tried to turn him but he refused

And because of the risks a natural birth will bring you decided you wanted a c-section

The date was all set so there was barely any stress

You and Richard had a schedule and everything was ready for the baby to be welcomed

The only reason to stress was the thought of “what if he decides to come early.”

But baby Camacho finally listens and stays put until the day of the c-section

Richard is obviously excited and so are you

But you can’t help but feel nervous

Luckily Richard knows how to calm you down

“Don’t worry mami, you’ll be just fine and I’ll be there the entire time.”

He kisses your hands, your forehead, your cheeks and eventually your lips before you go to the OR

Of course he’s gonna be there

Will only ask questions if it’s absolutely necessary

But everything goes according to plan and a healthy baby boy is born

They show you and Richard at the same time and he looks so proud

When they take the baby away to clean him Richard gently squeezes your hand and tells you how happy he is and how proud he is

“I’m sure Aaliyah will love her baby brother!”

Will be home as much as he can and helps you out with everything while you recover

So proud of his new born son

Joel

Baby Pimentel arrives at the party early

Not too early for them to be in danger

But earlier than your due date and earlier than Joel expected

You and Joel were baking cookies when suddenly

“Joelito, I think the baby wants to come say hi.”

Joel looks at the puddle on the floor and passes tf out

You catch him in time so that he doesn’t hit his head

A few moments later he awakens

“Damn I had such a weird dream, your water broke and I passed out.”

“Ya Joel, not a dream.”

“WHAT?!?”

Freaks out and calls his mom in panic

Completely freezes and just waits for his mom to arrive

You’re calmer than he is

When his mom gets there she offers to drive you to the hospital and Joel says yes before you can

He obviously helps you get in the car and somehow didn’t forget the hospital bag

On the way to the hospital he finally gets his shit together

Supportive Joel mode activated

Will hold your hand as you start pushing and doesn’t let go. He doesn’t give a kick, he just wants to make up for passing out

The doctors hand him a healthy baby girl and he cannot stop smiling, he is so happy

“Hello little one, papa will always be here for you, I promise.”

Dinner dates - Joel Pimentel

@your-gall-bladder-is-hot-af requested a fic about Joel’s eating habits, this is what I came up with.. I hope it’s not too messy.. I also hope you like it! I’m really sorry this took a little while but I had to do some research first (watched some CNCO interviews, what a punishment) this is longer than I expected it to be but anyway, let’s get to the fic, shall we?

You had been dating Joel for a while now and one of your favourite things was to just simply eat with him. Your very first date was a dinner date, Joel took you out to a small restaurant and you enjoyed the candle light dinner but you more so enjoyed Joel and the cute little things he did while he was eating. You never realised anyone could look so cute while eating. It was also the moment you realised you were definitely falling for him.

On your first date, Joel was nervous, and it showed. Lord, it showed. He was stuttering and fidgeting with his rings, his necklaces and even the hat he was wearing. Joel was so nervous he wasn’t sure what to pick and so he let you order first and then copied you. When the food arrived he was hesitant to take a bite, so he waited until you did. He watched you closely, hoping to read your thoughts through your facial expressions. “This is sooo good!” you called out with your mouth still full, making Joel chuckle. It finally gave him the courage to take a bite too, his stomach had been growling as he hadn’t eaten all day because he was so nervous. But when he finally took a bite he closed his eyes for a moment to focus on the taste before he opened them again and nodded enthusiastically. “It is! It’s so good!” He exclaimed and then proceeded to explain the taste and the texture to you. You thought it was the cutest thing in the world and you said yes to a second date before he could even finish his sentence.

On your second date you picked out a restaurant, it was something foreign for the both of you. You went to a Korean grill and you were a little afraid things would be too spicy. At the restaurant you could grill your own food. Joel had been nervous all day long and started to get hungry, the grilling of the meat took a little too long. When it was finally done Joel felt like he was starving. He looked at you, hoping that you’d take a bite first but you were holding back in case it was too spicy. “Aren’t you gonna eat?” He asked as he looked at you with a smile. “I’m not sure, what if it’s too spicy?” You responded. “You don’t like spicy? I’ll take a bite first.” He offered before he took a bite. “I mean, it is kinda spicy, but I think you can handle it.” He told you with his mouth still full and you not realising Joel can handle spicy food like it’s nothing took a bite too. The moment you put the food in your mouth you felt like it was on fire. “Liar! Oh my god I need some milk or something, this is way too spicy!” You cried out as Joel looked at you with concern in his eyes. “I know what will help! Ice cream! Come on, I know a place.” He said before he paid for the dinner and took your hand in his as he lead you to a small ice cream shop just around the corner.

“I don’t get it that often but I love ice cream.. what flavour do you want?” Joel asked you, still holding your hand. It was only your second date but it felt so natural. “I’ll take some vanilla and chocolate for after my mouth has calmed down.” Joel couldn’t help but chuckle. “Good choice, I like those flavours too!” He exclaimed happily as he ordered the ice cream. “Here ya go babe!” He said as he handed you the ice cream. “Thank you.” You smiled at him. You licked your ice cream before you looked back at Joel and smirked. “It’s really good! It also smells really good, here, smell it.” You said as you put your ice cream underneath his nose. Joel innocently leaned in to smell it and you pushed the ice cream in his face. “Hey!” He yelled, you couldn’t help but laugh out loud. “How dare!” He said as he ran after you because you thought it was best to run for your life. Joel quickly caught up with you and wrapped his arms around you from behind. “Caught you, where did you think you were going?” “I’m running away from you.” “But why..?” Joel asked, looking down at the floor. “Oh.. No, no. Joel it’s not like that. I ran away because I figured you hated getting ice cream pushed in your face, not because I don’t like you. I do, a lot. Would you like to go on another date with me?” You asked him and his face lit up. “Of course I do!” Joel said as he licked the ice cream from his lips. Seeing him do that made you melt, just like the ice cream in your hand. You just knew he was the one and you couldn’t help but be curious about his other eating habits. Which you would discover over the next few months.

“Joelitooooo, catch!” You yell from across the room, Joel opens his mouth and catches the sour candy you threw at him in a reflex, you did it so often it had become a habit, muscle memory. It started out as a way to surprise Joel. He mentioned that he liked sour candy so as a surprise you bought some and gave it to him as a surprise. “Hey Joel, catch!” You exclaimed as you threw the candy at him. Joel was confused but managed to catch the candy before he landed on the floor. He looked at the thing you just threw at him and noticed his fingers were now covered in sugar. “Ohh candy!” He said as he put it in his mouth. “Thanks babe!” He said as he chewed on the candy and rubbed the remainders of the sugar on his pants. Something you thought was so cute. He did it with fries too when there were no napkins around. Joel liked the sugar of his lips and you just looked at him in awe. After a while you both got used to it. Whenever you threw a candy towards Joel he’d open his mouth and he hoped he’d catch it, eventually he did and from that point on you two made it a little game which eventually became a habit you both loved.

“Joel-bear, catch!” You said, throwing him a sour candy. He caught it and smiled at you. “what do you want to eat tonight?” He asked once he swallowed the candy. “I’m feeling chicken wings and ribs.” You answered, knowing he hated eating them with his hands, but you just loved seeing him struggle just a little. “Hmm, okay. I’ll order some!” He said. Soon the food arrived and you two sat down in front of the tv. It was a lazy day so the both of you were hanging out in your pjs and didn’t feel like setting the table. You handed Joel some of the chicken wings and just looked at him with a smile on your face. Joel tried so hard not to make a mess of things, though his hands were soon covered in the marinade and he pouted. “Amooorr, napkin por favor!” He yelled as he looked at you with his puppy eyes. You shook your head as you giggled and handed him a napkin. He immediately cleaned off his hands and again you couldn’t help but stare until Joel noticed. “What are you smiling at?” He asked you as he tilted his head slightly and raised an eyebrow. “Nothing, I just love the way you eat.. is that bad or weird?” You asked a little embarrassed. “Not at all, I love the way you eat too.”

Light in the Dark - Christopher Vélez

I’m back with yet another Chris fic. You might think “Hale are you biased?” To that I say perhaps I am, writing about Chris is really easy for some reason lol. But imma stop talking now, here’s the fic.

You had been dating Christopher for a little while now and you noticed how he always slept with a light on. It didn’t have to be a big light, usually it was a small night light. Since he travels so much he had a portable little light he took with him wherever he went. You never asked him why he had the light, you just accepted it, thought it was cute even.

The light was a baby dinosaur and it was the cutest thing ever. It ran on batteries and every night you spend with Chris, the last thing he did before passing out, was turning on his little dinosaur light. Chris always had a bunch of spare batteries packed, just in case he needed to replace them. He once mentioned briefly that he couldn’t sleep without a light on because of something that had happened when he lived alone, though he didn’t like talking about it and he was happy you just accepted it for what it was and didn’t make fun of him and his little light.

However, one unfortunate winter night, Christopher’s light went off. You woke up from someone sobbing next to you. You opened your eyes and the room was pitch black. You could barely see anything but you could hear Christopher’s soft cries. “Chris?” You asked softly, but he didn’t answer. You sat up to get a better look at him. He was curled up in a ball, hugging himself and he was crying but you had no clue why. “Amor, talk to me, what’s going on?” But once again you didn’t get an answer. Chris lay there, unable to move out of fear, but he wasn’t able to talk or move so he stayed curled up as the tears kept slipping down his face.

“T-turn it on.. p-please..” Christopher managed to speak between sobs. You looked confused at him for a few seconds before it all clicked. His night light was off which is why you couldn’t see anything. Christopher was afraid to fall asleep in the dark. “Hey, sshh, Chris it’s okay.. I’m on it okay?” You told him as you looked for the spare batteries in his suitcase. Once you found them you quickly replaced the batteries and turned the dinosaur night light back on. You put it back on his nightstand and you saw Christopher relax a little.

You climbed back in bed. “Thank you..” you heard Christopher whisper. You got closer to him and hugged him close to you. “It’s nothing baby.. it’s okay now yeah? I’m here, the light’s back on. You’re okay now..” you whispered to him as you gently rubbed his back, hoping it would calm him down. Christopher buried his face in your chest and mumbled an “I love you” before he closed his eyes. “I’m sorry baby..” “just hold me okay?” “Okay baby.. try to sleep some more. I won’t let go, I promise.” You reassured him before you kissed the top of his head. “Besides, you have your little light in the dark..” you whispered to him. “You are right, I have you. You’re my light in the dark..”
