Why does it keep tying back to cats!!
Don't be fooled by the thumbnail, the above just skips to the relevant part of the video.
I need to stop nestling theories into other theories.
Also I've never posted a video to tumblr before, so uh... this might break. Let's see! Yep it did, hang on
The dice brace seems to be a letter-bead bracelet like the kind you make in school. When you equip it to Ralsei, he claims that it spells Friendship.
But when Kris gives it to Noelle in chapter 2, she claims Kris "jumbled it."
If the bracelet said "Friendship" before, that limits the number of words Kris can spell. Kris could not, for example spell "butts" because there is no "b," "u" or "t." Noelle's pretty quiet about which word Kris spelled, which is odd since normally she's quite open about the pranks Kris pulls, so if Kris spelled something mean (like "Perish" or "Nerd") it's odd for her to not elaborate on it, unless it's something that hits really close to home like "RIP Des" but, I don't think Kris would be that mean. However... the Spamton Sweepstakes did give us a pretty compelling solution to this puzzle....
Dess is connected to the phrase "find her" twice. Once on the Dess page which plays the song "findher," and once via the Spamton AMA, as when asked about Dess he says "THAT'S THE ONE THAT [Hochi mama] ALWAYS RESPONDED TO [Fr33 fr13nd f1ndh3r] EMAILS ABOUT!!!" Friendship could be reshuffled to spell "Find Her."
I should really just devote videos to ideas like this but, I gotta make that bread, right?
HalfBreadChaos but doubled
A few thoughts on this:
The subject of whether Light World monsters use magic is really just as cryptic and vague as the subject of whether monsters bleed. At this point, the most definite answer anyone can give is "yes, but actually no."
Ice skating pond... did Kris fall through thin ice? Is that why there's all the water references?
"Lightbringer"- I am so glad someone pointed this out! "Lightbringer" is the literal definition of "Lucifer," and it always bugged me why Spade King calls Kris this.
The Dark World brings to life things that are hidden or lost, right? Including dreams, desires, and abilities. So if monsters can use magic in the Dark World, it would make sense that magic is just a latent ability not used or rarely used in the Light World.
Bread doesn't address this, but I will: Kris DOES have a magic stat, and their status says ACT's "don't use magic." We know Toby Fox is a troll, and that pretty much everything he puts into one of these games is gonna come back sooner or later, especially when it's fairly prominent. It's unlikely that he would point out that ACT's don't use magic, and give Kris a Magic stat in the Dark World, if Kris cannot or never will use magic.
Yes, I think Kris opening the Dark World counts as magic. I've thought of this a couple of times- if Kris can't use magic, how the heck did stabbing the ground with a plain ol' knife open a Dark World? They would have had to summon their Determination, but how did they learn to do that, in the first place? Determination is what keeps them from dying in the Dark World... Oh, wait. The whole "has Kris died before" thing....
So, if opening a Dark World qualifies as magic, then The Roaring Knight, who must live in the Light World, is also using magic. So, yes, monsters in the Light World CAN use magic.
If you read a lot of fantasy stories (for instance, I read Manta comics), you frequently come across themes of "civilized" peoples favoring religion over "barbaric" magic. Could be the same deal here.
HOLD THE PHONE HOW IS EVERYMAN HERE WHEN THE AMALGAMATES DONT EXIST IN DELTARUNE—
WHY HAVENT I SEEN SOMEONE MENTION THIS? This feels like a job for HalfBreadChaos
I wasn't going to say anything. I totally wasn't. I was trying so hard NOT to look for connections. But I've watched the "Skies Forever Blue" video over and over, and listened to the song over and over, and something inside kept saying, "It's Deltarune, it's Deltarune, it's Deltarune!" And then Bread posted this and I decided it was time to say something.
For my part, I just kept thinking, "Well, it's about a relationship between a character and a player, that's just Toby's proven style, that's why you see a connection," but I knew all along Toby was hinting at something here, I could feel it.
Anyway, watching the video and looking at the website, I noticed a few things....
Vaguely resembles the DR logo.
Also, I know they're just music notes, but they look like the same kind of notes we see from Sweet Cap'n Cakes in Cyber Battle. That could just be coincidence- I mean, how many different ways can you draw notes in pixel art- but it's interesting.
Uh, why is "[shine on through]" in brackets??? And it's the only lyric in the captions that is in brackets.
Ok, ok, that's probably nothing. That is probably just YouTube closed captioning, which I believe is automatic. In the official lyrics in the description, there are no brackets. It's just that it's freaky to see in this situation. I'll go ahead and toss this one in the [damn garbage can].
BUT, the idea of a heart shining is somewhat reminiscent of the SOUL glowing.
99? Why does this remind me of Chara?
She grabs her throat like she's choking. Or... drowning?
They jumped in the water and it turned into sky? Or maybe "heaven"?
That's the video. Now let's look at the website. HalfBreadChaos covered most of it, but there's a few things I want to point out in the credits section:
Toby is the Annoying Dog. No big deal, right? I mean, that's pretty much just his avatar now.
Why doesn't he actually list his involvement in this project, tho?
Why would somebody choose Flowey for their icon? Especially if this isn't UT related? Wait... wait... wait, wait, wait... Nah, that's silly. Heh, just cuz there's a golden flower in Asgore's bell jar and suspicious-looking vines blocking the bunker door and vines and things in Spamton's basement... Nah, that doesn't mean...
Somebody hold me, I'm scared....
Is... is that the... the "Find Her" guitar???
What. What? WHAT?!?
No! No, no, no, it CAN'T be!!!
Also, "Chapter 0" is making me think of "SAVE File 0" from Undertale. Someone on Tumblr made a "SAVE File Allocation Theory" which basically added up to, each of the previous SAVE files was used by one of the other 6 fallen humans, with Chara's file being file 0. Carry this theory over to DR and remember that the SOUL is, apparently, changing colors to match the bosses (turned yellow with both Mettaton and Spamton, and Spamton stole Mettaton Neo's form, so we assume a similar pattern will follow in future chapters). We still do not know how or why the SOUL changed color, apparently on its own. But if the DR chapters are following the same line of reasoning as the UT SAVE files....
And I have even more to this theory. Remember the bell jars? In Undertale, they hold the SOULS of the fallen humans. In Deltarune, they hold the flowers from Asgoriel's wedding. BUT, there's no red flower. Instead, there's a golden flower. There's no golden SOUL in Undertale, so we might assume that Chara corresponds to the golden flower- except that the heart on Chara's coffin was red. The only other person associated with golden flowers is Asriel, and he's alive in Deltarune, and presumably returning for the festival.
So there's no telling at this point just who the golden flower refers to, because they don't match the SAVE files.
Also, the Undertale SAVE files don't go higher than 7 (I don't think- I haven't looked at the code, myself). So, there may not be anything to this. But... the similarities are somewhat unsettling.
Yes I'm real. Figured I should make one for my youtube so I can reply/reblog things without accidentally doxxing myself or something stupid.
