Hey, I’m both indian and english and identify as this and (light skin) brown. I’ve struggled with my identity for SO long, and still am. I just don’t know where I fit in especially as a half asian (I hate the term half... you can’t be half indian, sure half brown but half indian??????? Makes zero sense to me I’m both I’m just light brown) How do you deal with this? Like I’m so self conscious especially currently as race is such a large topic as of current.

hey if you’d rather not say half this and half that then don’t. i’m just learning this myself. i now say that i’m 100% this, 100% that, etc. and if people are like “y0u cAnT bE 200%” and give you issues, keep it moving.

you are what you are. you can only define that for yourself. some simply see it as being one part mom and one part dad. that’s fine. some don’t. like in relationships, you are a whole looking for another whole person, not a half. after all, no matter who we date, it’s going to be an interracial relationship. we’re like yins and yangs. life is a balancing act and is more fulfilling when we embrace our dualities. we scare people because we represent so many things by ourselves, just being ourselves.

Depois da segunda vez, caí de joelhos e, com maior zelo do que nunca, comecei a tocar Howlin’ Wolf do Firecracker, tirando a pele dos meus dedos e deixando trilhas sangrentas na guitarra branca. Quando fui tocar nossa ultima musica, 'Charmed Life', Jad e Gilles me interromperam. Eles queriam sair logo dali. O pedal de Gilles estava quebrado desde o início do show. Não notei. O barulho da multidão era enorme. 'Nós odiamos vocês, você são uma merda!'. Foi terrível. Ninguém da banda ouviu isso, eles ainda pensam que era apenas minha imaginação. Talvez eles estejam certos, mas não penso assim. Gilles saiu do palco e eu fui em direção ao vestiário e sentei bem no chão. Não havia ninguém por perto. Eu disse para mim mesmo para não me culpar por aquilo, que era uma espécie de ritual para a banda de abertura, etc... que o resto da turnê seria muito mais divertida.
