Reminder for Halloween this year!!:
The culture surrounding Halloween in America has changed, kid's hardly trick or treat door to door anymore, they do Trunk or Treat at local community areas that you can volunteer for! if you have been sad about kids not showing up to your house after you've gone all out on decorations and candy that's why! look up community areas in your neighborhood such as schools, libraries, children's rec centers and see if you can volunteer to be part of trunk or treat (the practice of decorating your car trunk and giving out candy from there). Often times these take place in the week before Halloween rather than on Halloween itself, and you don't always need a car to participate, there are usually many different jobs adults can do at these (front desk staff, photographer, scare-actor, still giving out candy but from a table, etc)
this is not a bad development, just new, don't feel bad that Halloween isn't the same as when you were a kid, this became popular during the start of the Covid pandemic and has stayed because it's proven to be safer for children (and because Covid is still rampant in America)
and remember Halloween doesn't have to just be for the kids, if you want to celebrate Halloween and can't do trunk or treat look up haunted houses, parties, Halloween community events, pumpkin patches, apple picking, corn mazes, etc. i know the weather has changed and we don't get the same fall vibe we used to get before global warming but you can still do these things and they can still be enjoyable, i hope everyone has a fun Halloween this year :>
