Halloween Mischief || Veronica and Joey
Joey opened the door to the clinic as quietly as she could, pressing forward with her feet making sure to avoid every creaking board as she made her way to the apartment. The werecat wasn’t even sure she was breathing; body naturally repressing into a state of prowl. She knew that Veronica’s human ears would never place her sleuth movements and that made her aim even more exciting.
The costume she had been secretly preparing for the better part of the year was finally whole; a colorful blue and violet patterned shirt was secured with magenta polka-dotted tie and a darker scarf tucked beneath that rose up against her neck. Covering the ensemble was a velvet, slim fitted, suit jacket adorned with a giant sunflower that the blonde had picked from Izzy’s abandoned garden earlier in the day. Matching pants, neon blue boots, and a giant top hat completed the entire outfit.
When the blonde finally found her prey brushing her teeth, she couldn’t help but quietly observe the taller woman. Joey unconsciously chews at her lower lip, breath caught in her chest. Though she wasn’t sure who her girlfriend was dressing as, there was a dark, short-haired wig involved and she had to admit that short hair suited the woman well.
It was only a heartbeat until Veronica noticed the mirrored presence standing in the doorway and Joey sprung into her character: “There is a place, like no place on Earth. A land full of wonder, mystery, and danger!” she exclaimed throwing her hands in the air as if there was imminent danger for the both of them. “Some say to survive it: You need to be as mad as a hatter,” the blonde finally said the line that she had been twisting around in her mind before taking the top hat off and tossing it at Veronica; the grin on her face impossibly to mask. The hat hit the mirror and bounced to the floor haplessly.
“At your service, m’lady,” Joey said with a grandeur bow.
