Elio is aware of how pathetic he likely looked at that moment. He collapsed from overworking himself to the point of exhaustion. Elio barely remembered how he even ended up in the hospital, but judging from Hau being there.. Hau must’ve brought him here.

Don’t try to stand up.. Elio barely had the strength to. He watches Hau softly, breathing gently. They must’ve checked to make sure he hadn’t caused any damage to his brain.. Elio didn’t think so, he just felt weak.

“I - It.. It i - isn’t your fault..” He murmurs it softly, and there his voice does not hide his tiredness. Elio gently squeezes Hau’s hand, knowing that he’s holding it. Having Hau near, it does calm him. “I - I’ll be okay.. D - Don’t worry.”

Elio is positive telling Hau that this has happened before wouldn’t have the reaction he wanted. So he avoids saying it. “T - They might k - keep me here a - a bit..I - I’d like t - to get.. m - malasada’s with you.”

How hard is it to hide the Halloween candy from Hau?

Hau is very good when it comes to partaking in holiday customs at the proper time. Part of that is the discipline Hala establishes… and part of that is Hau being able to eat malasada whenever he likes, which is, admittedly, a good distraction.
