I had to unplug for a bit to find my own style in this world of art. Constantly questioning myself and comparing my work to others. It’s not about who paints the best, or even who has a masters in fine arts. What matters is that I paint what makes ME happy and I put my most authentic self on this canvas. I love colors, bright ass colors. I love people, colorful people all over the world. I love music, world music...and I’m gonna paint all that shit. This is me. This is my work. Hamar Woman from the Pop Culture Series by @ntangou, 11” x 16” acrylic painting 🎨 Ntangou Badila is a Congolese visionary based in Brooklyn N.Y. . Raised in a multifaceted household of self employed artist parents, and nine siblings, there was always nurturing toward the exploration of creativity. Having recently transitioned from an extensive career in the Pastry Arts, the burgeoning of more artistic freedom has allowed her passions to flourish. In the past four years, she has been featured on Afro Punk and in Snax Magazine Vol 7, and has shipped commissions across the U.S. and internationally. Badila has spoken on artist panels and radio podcasts, teaches art in several inner city high schools, and has presented her work in numerous collaborative art shows throughout the city. “Queendwombmen”, her first solo show, debuted last spring and she continues to push her vision and creations for the world to enjoy illustrious indulgences .The pieces currently on display is her series Pop Culture, exemplifying Afrofuturism through fluorescent color and tribal reference of indigenous tribes throughout Africa. 💕 .
