I painted these fish on a few cold dark nights in early March while in Fisher Studio at Hambidge . Dramatic re-telling --- it was dark outside the cabin studio. All the way dark. No lights to even consider. he ran his paint covered fingers through his scraggled red beard and mumbled as he walked to the tiny box of a kitchen. He poured a little whiskey into his coffee mug and turned it back as he Glared out the over-the-sink window into the darkness. Leaning over with a hunched spine, the painter reached for his old almost broken brush and began to rework the fish fins he was crafting - the tails and the blue bubbles. Red and green and silver flashed as he fought off the late winters icy grip. He smiled a wee-bit as he began to forget how lonely he had become on the north Georgia mountainside. The fish smiled back.
