Guide to Buying Woodworking Sharpening Supplies
[Music] welcome to wood and shop I’m Joshua Farnsworth so when you get started in traditional woodworking there’s a lot of hand tools to have to buy so what I’m trying to do is share a list of just the basic minimum set of tools that you need to get started right off the bat and then what I’m gonna be talking about right now is sharpening supplies so it doesn’t do any good to have nice hand tools…

I bought the original 12x12″ granite tile from Home Depot in order to lap the bottom of the No. 112 and No. 4 planes that I had, but then I realized that I needed bigger for the No. 5s, my No. 7s, and now my No. 6. So I took a trip to T.F. Wright & Sons granite Foundry, in Carthage NY. They offered me a 30x13″ piece of scrap granite for a price that was better than I could have asked for. The original is on top with the No. 5, and the new tile, is well, obvious, with the same No. 5, and a No. 7.
