Devils' Line Vol 13

I'm literally caught up on all the manga I'm reading. And sitting around waiting for new chapters takes such a toll on my mental health. More so cause of the way almost all of them are at crucial parts that have you waiting on baited breath for what's to come.

Anyhow. All that to say I started reading Devil's Line as a distraction and it's super interesting so far.

I don't understand how this is the same guy tho. 🤔 I know he's not the healthiest, but the manga drawings are so horrible sometimes. Sometimes Anzai is easy to swoon over and I understand Tsukasa's obsession. And sometimes... well it makes me giggle a bit.

But really. Anzai is such a tortured soul. 😆 And this artwork below doesn't even look like the two above. Quite frankly, it looks like Anzai was drawn by Akira Amano. Heavy on the Ron Kamonohashi's Forbidden Deductions! And I'm definitely not mad about it.

And in natural fashion, I prefer this weirdo over the main character. Silly Hans is just precious.

I still have a healthy amount of chapters to go. But I'm really enjoying it so far. I was trying to find the anime, and it seems we don't have access to it anywhere in the US. So gonna see if my local video store has a copy. If not, guess I'm buying it off the internet. 😂 Hans is voiced by Tobio Kageyama's English VA and I need to hear that immensely! 🥰

Eva: Goodnight Claude

Steven: Night Buddy!

Claude: Night Mama, Night Grandpa!

Eva: *Smiles and turns the room light off, Claude's nightlight immediately turning on*

Claude: *Yawns, and lays down*

???: Claude, son, get up..

Claude: *Opens his eyes, Lee staring at him*

Lee: Hey son...

Claude: You're the man that chased Mommy...

Lee: Yeah, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you...

Claude: *Blinks, staring at Lee* Are you my Dad.....

Lee: *Stares at Claude then nods* I am, your mother never told me she had you, and I have actually been searching for her on top of living my life....

Claude: Oh...

Lee: I saw you go to the beach today with your mom, did you have fun!

Claude: *Beams and nods* We found seashells and much more!!

Lee: *Smiles, Claude showing him the seashells* These are beautiful!

Claude: Yeah, Mom is gonna help me make seashell jewelery tomorrow

Lee: *Chuckles, sitting in the bed with Claude on his lap* You like books?

Claude: Yeah

Lee: Got any sticky notes? I can teach you how to make flip books

Claude: Downstairs

Lee: We gotta be quiet alright, don't wanna wake Mommy and Grandpa

Claude: *Nods, holding Lee's hand* Okay

Lee: *Peeks out the room, then sneaks down the hallway with his son*

Eva: *Steps from around the corner, watching the two* Lee...

Lee: *Grins and slides down the rail with Claude*

Claude: That was fun!

Lee: *Chuckles, finding two packs of sticky notes* Lets get started shall we?

/The next morning/

Steven: Bud, you up

Steven: *Stares, finding his grandson gone* Claude?!

Eva: Dad, down here...

Steven: *Hurries downstairs, his eyes wide*

Claude: *Lays on the couch, a blanket bundled around him*

Lee: *Yawns, sleeping with Claude on him, Two sticky note packs on the ground*

Steven: Eva?

Eva: Lets go back to sleep....let Claude have this time with his dad, he needs it...

Steven: If you're sure...

Eva: *Nods and walks away up the stairs*

Steven: *Glares at Lee before following her*

Lee: *Opens his eyes, picking Claude up, looking towards the stairs* Eva...

Devils Line

This anime has been on my Hulu cue for a long time. Finally I was bored and just watched it. Holy shit! Another impressive take on the modern vampire story.

The relationship between Anzai and Tsukasa is just the sweetest. Accepting someone for who they are out right is love at its purist. I think they may be my new favorite vampire/human couple since Sookie and Eric (remember True Blood anyone?)

Anzai reminds me a lot of Subaru from Diabolik Lovers. He grew up hating himself for being born a half vampire. But with his feelings for Tsukasa overcoming his self-hatred, he becomes a better person. He wants to learn how to control his bloodlust and sexual desires in order to be in a real relationship with Tsukasa. He’s starting to understand this process with the help of his new friends Hans Lee and Dr. Akio Kano. And Tsukasa accepts that’s he’s a vampire, but she’s not afraid of him. At the end of season 1, she says she’ll wait for him. If that’s not pure love, then I don’t know what is.

UPDATE: Also, the English voice actor for Anzai is ADAM GIBBS. Same voice actor for Ruki from DL and Parasyte! No wonder I swoon so much. 😍 LOL.

UPDATE #2: I’ve been reading the manga that takes place after season one. WHY IS SEASON TWO NOT BEING MADE???? The story is so compelling, visuals are spectacular and character development is on point. @hulu, and or @netflix GET ON THIS!
