“He’s…so much better than the rest of them.” “What do you mean?” The hero sighed, passed the binoculars to their sidekick. “Just look at him. He’s controlling them all and they don’t even know it. A conductor and his orchestra.” “Careful there, boss. You’re starting to sound impressed.”

“Oh, because of course I wind up with the creme de la creme of nemeses.” Their villain blinked. “Was that…a compliment?” The hero rolled their eyes, “Obviously. It’s difficult not to appreciate how talented you are, especially after a week of fighting idiots.” “That’s very forthcoming of you to say.” “Just an observation.” They shrugged, then raised their fists with a grin. “Now, put ‘em up and prove me right.” The villain grinned. “With pleasure.”

The hero spat blood at their villain’s feet. “Pretty fucking impressive, getting this teamup together to take me down. It must be driving you mad to keep them all together. How long do you really think it’s going to last?” “Oh, not long.” The villain stepped in close, grabbed them by the chin, and smirked. “It will only take a few more minutes to kill you, after all.”

Happy New Decade!

It’s that time again! 2019 was a year stuffed to the brim and now the slate is blank once again for another year of friends, half-finished projects, new projects, tragic projects. You understand how it is.

This time I had the wonderful @haphazardlyparked​! If anyone hasn’t yet stalked this gorgeous human being’s blog please do so immediately she writes with such finesse and creativity. I hope I can do some justice with these book covers:

The State of Regret:

The city-state of Tasak seems to prosper under an enigmatic and charming ruler, Lord Kan. By his side is Noki, a fascinating and talented diplomat. In front of them both is the problem of Samara, a rival state, and Isokai, their ambassador that is not what he seems. Neither is Kan, and soon a revelation will threaten both Kan’s beloved state, and, his beloved.

Seriously, if you haven’t read this it’s incredible go do it right now. I mean it.

Monopoly:

Monopoly is the long-suffering superheroine of the telepathic and telekinetic variety. Unfortunately for the latter power is too weak to note and the former is constantly overshadowed by Rex, a part-time villain, and the most powerful telepath in the world.

Along with a superhero agency of ambiguous intention, Monopoly must figure out where she belongs as one of the many, if she manages to survive Rex at all.

The Knight of Sascrin:

The betrayal was only a drop in the ocean.

Amir betrayed by its heir.

Masara betrayed by her cousin.

After finding her rule coming to an unwilling end, Masara will navigate a battlefield of literal and metaphorical proportions to stay alive. Will she prevail? Or will her attraction to the invading Emperor Hikaj tempt her to give up everything?

Random biology facts you say???

-Snow Leopards have a mechanism in their nose that heats up air as it comes in and then cools it down as it goes out so that prey can’t see their breath in the snowy environment.

-This bird is a Hoatzin. It’s the only bird in the world that uses a foregut to digest food instead of a stomach. Their babies have little claws that they use to climb. And, apparently, these birds stink. Like really bad.

Monopoly is ace!

i am so incredibly ace that most of it carries over to my characters and like more of them are ace/ambiguous than not, but here, have a thoroughly stupid story about a character i don’t think any of y’all have ever seen

so i didn’t realize asexuality was a thing (or that i was probably ace) until like after college. in high school when i worked at dairy queen i had been roleplaying for a while and one of my characters was an old dude who hunted monsters for a living. and in high school, as you all know, sex is all pretty much anyone talks about.

lyon the monster hunter was a bachelor. i knew this in the same way i knew eli was gay and betten had one arm and that if i ever changed any of that then they wouldn’t be good characters at all. in my head, making up lyon’s back story, i was going through so many loops to figure out why lyon had never married or why he wasn’t even interested. like i even went so far as to go “he’s cursed??? he can’t love/kiss anyone with them dying??? but he doesn’t need a tragic backstory???? you can’t be a fifty year old person without having smooched people!!!”

and then a few years later i joined tumblr and they were like “hey this is asexuality” and after going “OH HEY SO THAT’S WHY I NEVER DATED ANYONE EVER” i went “oh dang like all my characters are also asexual w h a t”

Three. Goodness. Also, I can’t find the black stars, so…

⭐️ Fox cannot, for the life of her, rollerblade, skateboard, ice skate, scooter, or bike. Anything that involves moving without having her feet on the ground is physically impossible. She trips over her own feet regularly, so it’s not that much of a surprise, but still. Her parents are dreading when she starts to drive.

⭐️ Wynn cannot lie. Or, he can, but incredibly obviously. He never had any practice while growing up, his mama could sniff out deception before he even had the chance to lie, so he never learned to do it. The one exception is poker. He’s excellent at controlling his emotions, so he can visually lie. Whatever comes out of his mouth, however, is another story.

⭐️ Phoenix has no sense of direction whatsoever. She gets lost in her own spaceship, and it’s a pretty small ship. When she was younger she always found her way by landmarks but she has no idea which way she came from. Spin her around once and she’s lost. She’d carry a compass but there’s no compass that works on every planet and if she took one for every eventuality she’d have too many to carry.
