i'm gonna chew w my mouth open and never flush the toilet
Liv I swear to Moses that I will shove a butterfly down your pants if you chew with your mouth open around me
Liv is watching Carmilla for the first time, and her reactions are pretty much the greatest thing ever.

You should grab him by the face and scream I’M GAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYY really loudly and then throw rainbow confetti in his eyes
Sad thing is he knows I'm gay and is still disrespectful enough to say those things. But that's an amazing mental image.

It helps a lot. It's like 550 mg of Naproxen or something like that. Don't give up hope. I know that it hurts a lot, trust me I do, and I seriously hope that you get it all under control. It took me three years to figure out that I needed to get my ass to a specialist, and I'm finally almost pain free and it's the best thing ever. I hope that it all works out for you!
I’m happy to hear that you found a place of comfort with your jaw! C:
I’ll definitely keep your words in mind if this bite splint doesn’t help. I do trust my dentist, but I’ll definitely be wary as I progress through this treatment and try all sorts of different methods before resulting to surgery (surgery scares me a lot, and I know that it is not generally recommended for the jaw.)
Here’s to hoping that the shape of my condyle responds well to the splint in the meantime and doesn’t require anything more serious ahahaha
makes things progressively worse. I would say that you should definitely look into specialists. I personally have had a lot of success with the Gelb appliance. I had a bite splint first and it did absolutely nothing for me. Your doctor has already probably told you this, but you should apply wet heat to the area where it hurts for 20 minutes and drink hot tea, and then ice it for 20 mins and drink cold water. My dentist also prescribed Naproxen to help with the inflammation.
My dentist is a bite specialist so I’m trusting his word in the meantime. I think that I’m going to stick with the bite splint for now and see where it can get me, but I’ll keep your word in mind just in case the bite splint doesn’t pan out!
I do want to avoid surgery at all costs, but I’ve just about reached a point where if it is required to solve my issues then I am not completely against it (particularly now that I know that the bone is deformed.) It’s not just pain I’m dealing with, it’s also debilitating related issues like chronic fatigue, tinnitus, and more besides. The related headaches and pressure are worse than the jaw pain generally (though there is notably jaw pain as well)
The surgery he mentioned also would just be to clean out the dented part of the bone, not to reshape it or anything deeply invasive. And this is all still on an “if it comes to that” basis since he (and I) want to avoid doing so
HI, so I've been looking at the TMJD tag for a few months now and I've seen your posts, and I just saw your post about how your doctor wants you to get surgery maybe perhaps. I have really awful TMJD and I feel your pain, but I just wanted to tell you that my dentist, who has contacts with the heads of the TMJD Pain Management center and with another doctor who is famous for his work with the disorder, told me that surgery is probably the worst thing you can do for your jaw. It, lots of times,
MhmmmThe only issue though is that it’s not just the disc that is out of whack for me, the bone itself is shaped weirdly and jagged. Most of the time surgery wouldn’t be required for TMJD because the disc can be repositioned with tactics that are far less invasive, but it’s harder to tell when the bone is not shaped as it should be
My dentist has already made it clear to me though that he wants to avoid surgery if at all possible (I do as well), but that it might be a route to take if my condition does not improve with other methods
