Feral billy anon here! Seeing that you’re working on my prompt and it keeps getting longer literally made my day. I am so excited 😍
This fic is going to be long. This fic is going to be delicious. This fic is going to be all the hurt/comfort, fluff, and feral Billy you could ever want (I hope).
Thank you so damn much for the wonderful prompt. It's great to feel inspired like this.
Can someone give me this Omega Steve who wears pretty pastel colored skirts and warm crop top sweaters who is actually insanely smart but everyone at Uni just assumes he’s another pretty face omega with Alpha Billy who wastes his time at Uni because he’s on a baseball scholarship and a degree in Poetry. Billy who had given up on finding love after his first boyfriend broke his heart so now he just fucks anything with legs, drinks an unhealthy amount and writes sad poetry that helps him pass through Uni, but then he meets Steve, Steve who wears flower crowns in his hair and only eats the purple m&ms because they taste the best. Steve who is the only Sophmore with a passing grade in intro to Nanotechnology. Steve who turns him down for a quickie at Tommy’s party because he’s an omega with morals and a boyfriend.Steve who is an omega who’s not afraid to give him attitude but will also cry when Billy steps on the flowers he’d planted outside of his sorority. And Steve has a boyfriend who is preapproved by his parents but never gives him any attention, calls Steve stupid and slow, an alpha who only brings Steve to parties to show him off as a trophy and to brag about the wealthy family he’s going to marry into. But then he starts to really notice billy, billy who writes him Shakespeare on notes and leaves them on Steve’s desk . Billy who went out of his way to buy bags of m&ms and sort through to find all the purple ones (because he was listening when Steve said they were his favorite). Billy who who grabs him by the hand at 2am when they’re both high on the top of the astronomy building and pulls him close, whispers how Steve is good enough. Maybe they slow burn fall in love ( because that’s the best kind of love fr) and Billy doesn’t know how to tell Steve that he smells like white chocolate and rose petals but it’s a smell he wants to come home to. And Steve doesn’t know how to tell Billy that even though he’s maybe probably kinda in love with him, the reason he turned him down is because his parents expect the absolute best out of him and he can’t be caught dead dating an alpha who isn’t going to become a lawyer or a doctor. So as much as he wants to leave the alpha his parents picked out, Steve doesn’t because he wants his parents to be proud of him no matter how bad their ideals for him are and whether or not it makes him happy, when it’s obvious that Billy is the reason for his smile and the reason he gets up in the morning. I could go on and on and make a whole plot about this i swearrrrrr
oh man i'm so happy you share my lipsticks kink. love you art so much! btw have you read the fic paint it red? its the best harringrove with steve wearing lipstick i think you would like it.
Hi, Anon! Thank you as well for sharing this kink! (actually harringrove opened it for me. Before them I didn't knew that I have one XD). Thanks for the fic recommendation, but I'm so bad at reading fics lately 😩 I prefer to spend my time with studying and drawing instead of reading. But I have a short "to read" list and will add "Paint it red" in it. Thank you 😘🥰🥰
“A soulmate AU where the first lie you ever tell your soulmate is written on your skin”
And I want this for Harringrove so bad where Steve is known for not lying to anybody because he’s scared of who his soulmate is. But every night when he goes home, he turns on the bath water and unwraps his collarbone that hides his tattoo that says “I’m fine Bambi eyes, don’t worry about me” written in elegant cursive. all he can do is wonder who this person is gonna be, why are they lying about being fine, and what kind of situation are they going to be in where they feel the need to lie?
Billy’s tattoo is on full display for everyone to see, it’s written in almost chicken scratch handwriting across his forearm “I hope all men aren’t like you, Hargrove”. Billy being the guy he is wears it like it’s a trophy. It’s a comfort for him. Sure for now he treats everybody and anyone like someone to just pass around for fun. But when his soulmate says those words to him, they don’t mean them. They’ll know the real side of Billy, they’ll know who he really is as a person and what he wants out of life. Somebody will understand him.
He starts to cover up his tattoo though, people take it the wrong way. And after awhile it starts to get to him, he gets tired of beating people up over a soulmate he’s never met.( something along those lines idfk)
And now they’ve known each other for awhile, going on 6 months when Billy and Steve get into an argument about Billy’s home life, about Billy’s grades, about Billy being Billy sometimes when Steve says
“All I can do is worry about you, you know?” Steve yells. “You’re like my best friend, why would I let you go home to this.”
“Go home Harrington.”
“We’re supposed to be friends and yet you don’t trust me? Stop calling me by my last name, Hargrove”
“We are friends, don’t ever say that to me again” Billy argues, he’s upset now, a cigarette lit in his hand, halfway burned through as he ashes it out the window.
“Then let me worry about you for once” Steve grunts, arms crossed looking out the passenger side window.
Billy scoffs, taking another hit and turning to Steve lazily.
“I’m fine Bambi eyes, don’t worry about me.” Billy smirks his signature smirk but Steve could see the look in his eyes. The look of sheer horror of having to go home again.
But Steve is only half looking at him anyways.
“What did you just say?” Steve whispered in complete shock. His hand out of reflex going across his neck. He took a deep breath, turning to look at Billy. “Billy what did you JUST SAY?!”
“Look, I can take care of myself alright Steve? I don’t want you worrying about me, or getting involved. You don’t deserve that and I’m not going to do that to you. I’ve lost too many people when they try to get involved. I won’t lose you too.” Billy hits again before looking at Steve. “You’re my best friend too, just don’t tell anybody alright? Wouldn’t want people to get ideas” Bill laughs then, it’s a small laugh but it’s a laugh.
Steve sighs, that had to have been a glitch then.
“I hope all men aren’t like you, Hargrove” Steve says under his breath, it’s quiet, but not quiet enough.
“Steve... show me your tattoo.”
Steve’s looking at his lap now his tattoo feels like it’s burning a hole through his clothes, waiting for someone to touch it.
“I’ll show you mine, if you show me yours” he takes a deep breath.
Billy doesn’t respond, instead He leans across the seats slowly, unwrapping Steve’s bandages to finally look at the tattoo he always has covered up. He smiles, a genuine smile and kisses Steve’s collar bone softly.
Billy pulls back a little, face still hidden in Steve’s neck as he pulls up his own sleeve happily.
Just a thought. Might be trash (it is but I’m not sorry)
So this is something I wrote enjoy it please? I have a part two ready if people like it. This was just getting really long lol so I edited it a little and cut it into two parts. Let me know what you think?
Summary: When Steve falls asleep it’s 1982, he’s cold, and alone and he’s hiding from a giant demon trying to kill him and his friends. He knows the plan, his friends are coming back for him, he just has to wait outside for awhile, hidden and safe. When he wakes up however, he’s in different universe. It’s 2019 and nothing is making any sense. What kind of dream is he having?
“STEVE”
“Steve..”
“Steve, please..”
“Ste-..”
When Steve wakes up, he’s warm. Which wouldn’t have been weird if he had fallen asleep warm. That wasn’t the case though, Steve had fallen asleep cold, he had been shivering and clutching to himself for dear life. He had fallen asleep behind a dumpster in the middle of winter, hiding from whatever it was that was attacking them this time. He wasn’t necessarily sure what it was this time, all he knew was that he had to hide. Especially since he was alone. His friends had been able to escape, and he was sure they were coming back for him, all he had had to do was stay awake and wait. While awake though, minutes turned into hours, and hours had turned into a day or two, he hadn’t been sure. None of that mattered right now though, because right now, he was warm.
Come to think of it, Steve thought, finally opening his eyes and looking around at his surroundings. How did he get here exactly?
Something really wasn’t adding up. Steve sat up slowly, letting the thick blanket he was wrapped in fall. He looked down and pulled gently at the soft baby blue patterned pajamas he was wearing. Something really wasn’t adding up. Looking around he could identify that he was in fact in his bedroom at home. The dead giveaways being the posters he had on the wall and his own clothes strewn across his computer chair. This was definitely his room, but something seemed… off.
Steve stood then, trying to catch his balance, he walked slowly to the mirror in his room and squinted at himself. He eyed his neck, pulling his shirt down past his collarbone and stepped back quickly in shock. What happened to his bruises? His cuts? Was this all a dream? Steve held his hands out in front of him, flipping them over and looking at both sides, he saw no band aids that were covering his cuts and his reminders of what had happened.
Now he was scared, he turned his head, eyes roaming the room confused.
Was this heaven? Did he die from being outside in the cold for too long? Did nobody ever find hi-
Knock, Knock
“Steve honey, breakfast is ready. You need to hurry or you’re going to be late for school” A soft female voice came from behind his closed bedroom door. “And please, don’t spend all morning trying to find something to wear, it’s the first day, you’ll have all year to impress people.”
That made Steve stop completely. He knew that voice, he just hadn’t heard it in awhile. He could hear her footsteps retreating down the hallway.
Steve shook his head, walking towards his closet, this had to be a dream, that's all. He had probably fallen asleep while waiting for the kids and Hopper to come and rescue him that's all. He could play along with this, he thought. He opened his closet looking at the clothes he saw inside, this was definitely a dream then, he thought to himself. No way would he wear any of this. Where did these clothes come from?
Right.
This was a dream.
Steve sighed, pulling out a pair of tan skinny jeans. He could play along with this, it’s just a dream. He pushed a few shirts aside before taking out a low necked long sleeved dark blue sweater. He nodded to himself, this would do. He grabbed a white undershirt and a pair of socks from his dresser before heading to the bathroom to shower. Even in this weird dream world, a shower sounded like heaven. Steve laid down his clothes neatly on his bed, taking a quick look at what he put together. Maybe he would wear this he thought shrugging.
Steve walked out of his bedroom, closing the door behind him, he took a quick look at the hallway. Everything looked the same as it did in the real world, pretty realistic dream if you asked him. He walked to the bathroom for his shower, and turned on the hot water, stripping quickly. Oddly enough, he could feel the steam coming off of the water.
Almost as if it was real.
The water definitely feels real enough, Steve thought as he stepped in. He took a deep sigh and just stood under the hot water. This was a moment that could last forever, he couldn’t remember the last time he had felt so relaxed. Outside of his dream they had been fighting monsters off for weeks it felt like. He hadn’t had time to shower even if he wanted to. This however, he thought while washing his body and hair, he could stay in this dream forever.
He gave himself twenty minutes in the shower before deciding to get out. He dried himself quickly, before heading to his room to get changed. With his clothes slipped on, he finally headed downstairs. He hadn’t been prepared to smell bacon.
That was new.
He stopped on the bottom step and gasped. He could hear music playing in the kitchen along with a voice humming over it.
Steve walked into the kitchen and paused, looking at the woman who was in there cooking. She had her back turned to him, swaying her hips and humming to herself, unknowing that she now had an audience. She was in a pair of dark blue skinny jeans and an over sized pink cardigan. When she turned, Steve could see the white tank top she had on as well as an apron wrapped around her waist. Her long brown hair was pulled into a high ponytail and she was licking something into her mouth. She smiled at him and laughed, a look of being caught.
“Mom..” Steve said breathless.
“Hey honey,” She said smiling, walking to the table in front of her and began mixing some batter in a bowl. “Just a little taste.” She said, dipping her finger in the bowl again and smirking at him. “You hungry sweetness? Or is B picking you up today?”
Steve stood in shock, not able to fully process her words, watching her mix whatever was in the bowl, he assumed pancake mix.
“Mom, I'm surprised you’re home.” Steve replied, walking fully into the kitchen. His mom tilted her head to the side confused and smiled.
“Why wouldn’t I be home Stevie? I live here, you know?” She joked shaking her head. She turned back around and started scooping piles of the batter into a hot pan. “I made you a plate dear, you can take it to go if you don’t want to be late.” She said over her shoulder, going back to what she was doing.
Steve nodded, not that she noticed and walked into the dining room, he did see a plate sitting there where he usually sits. What bothered him was that there was another plate of food made, it was where his d-
“Morning son.”
Steve stood behind his chair, watching completely shocked as his dad came from behind him, clapping him on the shoulder and sitting down for breakfast. His mom being here he could handle in a dream, he wasn’t sure about his dad. This whole dream was already weird, this took the cake though he decided. He watched his dad pull his plate close to him and start to eat before looking up at Steve and raising an eyebrow.
“Everything alright Steve? You look shaken. How’d you sleep” His dad asked, taking a bite of his own bacon.
“Um,..” Steve stuttered, sitting down in his chair “I slept okay I guess sir.”
“Sir?” His dad laughed, “Who are you and where’s our Stevie boy?” His dad joked, leaning over to ruffle Steve’s hair.
Steve was very confused now, what kind of dream is this? Even in his weirdest dreams, he’s never seen his parents. Maybe in nightmares where they were yelling at him for not being good enough, but it was never like this.
Steve took a deep sigh, he could do this, enjoy the dream. He looked up at his father who had his head turned, eyes on a newspaper now.
“Hey, um.” Steve started, clearing his throat. “Dad?”
His dad turned, eyes still on the paper but his head turned towards him to actually acknowledge his presence.
“Why are you home? Don’t you have work to do? I don’t know, in Italy or somewhere fancy?”
“Italy?” His dad laughed, dropping the paper on the table “Son accountants don’t need to go to Italy very often, no matter how successful they are. I’m perfectly fine here in Hawkins with my firm.”
“You… you work here?” Steve asked with a hopeful voice. That had been all he had ever wanted as a kid, both his parents home.
“Stephen you’ve been to my job multiple times, are you sure you're okay? You didn’t really answer me early.” His father said, a concerned look on his face.
“He probably just overslept dear,” His mom’s voice chimed in, she walked into the room with a plate of food in her hand and sat opposite of Steve. She busied herself with cutting her pancakes to eat.
“Yeah, I just overslept. That’s all. I’m uh, I’m gonna head to..” He stopped, where even was he going this morning?
“School hopefully. Keep those grades high for college?” His mom asked, she looked up at him and ate a bite of her pancakes.
School?
“I graduated last year remember? Why would I be going to school?”
His parents looked at each other before turning to look at him.
“Son, are you sure you’re okay? It’s your senior year we can understand being nervous” His father said to him.
That couldn’t be right though, he very much could remember graduating, why would he dream of being a senior again? None of this dream made any sense, he thought. Steve nodded, looking at both his parents and laughed nervously.
“Yeah should just be nerves I guess.” He said grabbing some pieces of bacon and standing. “I’m uh, gonna head to school.” He said, turning to find his shoes , and a book bag he supposed.
“Is B not picking you up?” His dad asked, eyes turning back to his newspaper.
That was the second time the name “B” had been mentioned he thought.
Huh.
Maybe a dream girlfriend he made up.
“Uhm, no I’m gonna meet them at school. I’ll see you guys later?” He asked, he hadn’t wanted to sound so hopeful, but he couldn’t help it. As weird as breakfast might have been, it was also really nice. He wouldn’t mind dreaming this scenario again.
“Of course honey, I’ll be here when you get home. Dad’ll be here after work.” His mother said smiling but shaking her head, a little taken back.
Steve nodded and turned to leave before turning back around. He looked at both his parents who were staring at him, waiting for him to say something. For the first time since this dream started, Steve smiled. He walked over quickly and hugged his dad tight, before turning and giving his mom a tight hug as well.
“I love you guys.” He whispered before standing, he nodded and headed to leave again, hearing shouts of we love you too.
He grabbed a pair of white slip on shoes out of the front closet and his book bag which was hanging on a hook in the closet. He turned, looking at his home before leaving. That’s what was different when he woke up this morning. Everything was pretty much the same, but instead of this just being an empty house, it was his home. He smiled, grabbing a pair of keys off the table that had his lanyard on them and headed out the door to school.
When he closed the door behind him though, he saw three cars he didn’t recognize. Where was his BMW? All he saw were cars he had honestly never even seen before. He walked to the cars and tried his car key on the first one, before accidentally pressing a button on some black fob that hung from his lanyard and he heard one of the cars beeping.
He jumped, before walking over to a four door white car. It was big for sure, a lot bigger than his old car. He got in the car slowly, closing the door and looking around the car, everything looked so… futuristic.
Steve shrugged his shoulders to calm his nerves and started the car. It gave a nice purr in return which Steve nodded his head at. Now this was a nice car. This would do, hey it was just a dream he told himself as he drove to school. As he drove, he looked around, everyone was driving some pretty nice cars actually, and they were all dressed in the same fashion as himself.
Steve pulled into the school parking lot, looking around at the people who he had graduated with last year. This was weird, really weird he decided. He sighed, turning the car off, he grabbed his bag and stepped out, locking the door behind him.
“Steve!” a familiar voice called.
He turned, to see Nancy waving him down, she was leaned up against a sleek black two door car. Jonathan Byers was next to her, an arm slung around her shoulders. He smiled, a shocked cough coming out of him as he made his way over to them.
“Hey Nancy, Jonathan” He said warmly, this whole place seemed so weird and these two being being in front of him was the only thing that felt even the littlest bit normal. They did look a lot different though. Nancy had her hair straightened down past her shoulders, which in itself wasn’t anything out of the ordinary. What was strange to Steve was what she was wearing. Nancy had on tight black pants that had rips up and down the front along with a striped white shirt and a jean jacket. That's something he has never imagined her wearing outside of her regular dresses and skirts. What startled him the most about Nancy, was the silver stud she had in her nose.
Jonathan looked pretty much the same, the only thing that was throwing him off was the Letterman jacket he was wearing, over his plaid short sleeved shirt. Seeing Jonathan in jeans wasn’t anything out of the ordinary but everything else was a little odd to say the least. His hair was shorter, not in the bowl cut style it had been before, instead it was shaved on both sides and slicked back a little.
Regardless, he was excited to see his friends in his dream.
“You drove your new BMW today? I thought B was gonna pick you up?” Jonathan asked, nodding his head towards Steve’s car.
“That’s a BMW?” Steve asked, turning to look at the car he had driven. “Huh, new and improved.” He muttered to himself.
“Yeah I guess.” Nancy smirked, raising an eyebrow at him “But where’s B, if you drove yourself?”
Oh yeah, Steve thought, this B girl. He had to think, he didn’t really know who B could possibly be, he didn’t know any girls names who started with B. Well except..
Of course, he thought, Barbra. She was the only girl in his life who he could possibly think of. That would freak him out on a lot of levels though, why was Barbra alive in his dream. Why was she picking him up for school? Were they dating or something?
“Oh yeah, she and I decided I’d drive myself today?” Steve replied trying to appear casual, he chuckled and scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.
“She? Who are you talking about Steve?” Nancy asked, a puzzled look on her face.
Before anyone could say anything else though, a loud bell rang, signaling for everyone to start heading inside. The trio started to head inside, book bags slung over their shoulders.
“Hey funny question, can you show me where my locker is?” Steve asked, as they walked.
“Steve you’re locker is where it always is” Nancy said rolling her eyes. She opened the doors to the school, letting Steve and Jonathan follow after her. “B had your lockers moved so they were next to each other. Ever since what happened last year.”
Steve nodded, he was confused on a lot of levels, he followed after them blindly into the school, looking around at all the familiar faces but they all seemed so different. This was a weird dream, why would he dream he was at school? His head was really starting to ache, and he had this weird feeling in the pit of his stomach, something wasn’t right. He looked up at Nancy and Jonathan who were walking in front of him, lost in conversation. He was starting to get a little dizzy though, man he didn’t feel good now.
“Guys stop,” Steve paused in the hallway, letting people pass him. The couple in front of stopped as well, turning to look at him with questioning looks. Steve quickly looked around before grabbing both of their arms and pulling them into a nearby classroom. He shut the door and took a deep breath, turning to face his dream friends.
“Steve are you feeling okay dude?” Jonathan asked, reaching forward to feel Steve’s forehead.
Steve brushed him off and nodded his head quickly.
“I’m fine. I’m fine, well no not really fine. It’s just so weird here!” He exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air and walking in circles, contemplating. “I mean, yesterday we were fighting monsters from the unknown and now we’re here. Back in our senior year as if we didn’t graduate last year, when we most definitely did. I remember face planting on the floor during the graduation ceremony. So I KNOW we did. And and and, I fell asleep, Nancy you were calling my name, telling me not to sleep, that you guys were on your way. And then I wake up and I’m in this weirdly elaborate dream that makes no sense.” Steve stopped, looking between both of his best friends, who were just looking at him blankly.
“I’m sorry, did he just say monsters?” Jonathan whispered under his breath to Nancy, who nodded, her eyes on Steve.
“Ugh.” He said, slumping in the closest chair and banging his head on the desk. “Why can’t I just wake up? And what kind of dream is this where out of everyone I could date, I date Barb? It makes no sense!” He muttered loudly.
“Steve what are you talking about?” Nancy asked, taking the seat next to him. She had her eyebrow raised concerned as she sat. She reached out and patted him on the shoulder “Are you high right now?” She whispered, as if someone else was around.
“No Nance, I’m not high.” Steve muttered.
“Then why on Earth do you think you’re dating Barb? Also what are you talking about with the whole monster thing ?” She asked, leaning back in her chair. She looked over at Jonathan for help, but he just shrugged, just as lost as she was.
“Guys this is my dream, the only girl I know whose name starts with “B” is obviously Barbra. None of this makes sense, and my head is really starting to hurt.” Steve complained sitting up and rubbing his forehead.
Before Nancy or Jonathan could ask anymore questions on what Steve was talking about, the classroom door slid open. Steve could hear footsteps approaching, but his head was hurting too much to pay attention, he sighed and laid his head back down on the desk.
“What’s wrong with drama queen today?” A deep voice asked laughing.
Great.
Steve knew that voice, he hated that voice.
Why was that voice in his dream, of all places?
“Fuck off Hargrove, I’m not in the mood for more mind games.” Steve said.
“Whoa, what crawled up your ass babe?”
Steve sat up then, turning to look at none other than Billy Hargove. He was wearing a silky long sleeved black shirt that was half unbuttoned with a pair of dark skinny jeans; a Hawaiian puka necklace across his neck. As much as Steve would hate to admit, he looked pretty decent in his dream, besides the shocked scowl on his face. He even had his hair slicked back, in a nice way so his hair was out of his eyes. That didn’t matter though. Not in this dream buddy.
“Look, if you guys are in some couples spat, can we go?” Jonathan asked awkwardly, “Class is gonna start in like fifteen minutes and I want to grab a bagel for breakfast before they’re all gone.” He said, shaking his head and heading towards the door. “You coming Nance?”
“What are you talking about?! That’s not funny, Byers.” Steve said angrily. He could take the heat from Billy but not from his actual friends.
“Huh?” Jonathan looked taken aback. Looking between Billy and Nancy.
“Baby,” Billy started, moving to kneel in front of Steve, who flinched back at his closeness. “Are you okay?”
Steve groaned loudly flailing his arms towards his friends as he spoke.
“Why does everyone keep asking me that?! I’m fine, this is all just a really weird dream. Usually I can expect everything that happens, but this makes no sense. I’m not in any type of control here.” He exclaimed, it was only morning time in his dream, but man was he exhausted. “And don’t call me baby, Hargrove.”
“You weren’t complaining about being my baby last night.” Billy snickered, glancing behind him at Nancy and Jonathan before leaning in closer to Steve and whispering “We can repeat that right here if you want bambi.”
“Alright, now we’re leaving. You two are grossly in love, and I want no part of this.” Nancy said, standing up from her spot and heading for the door with Jonathan in tow. “Let me know when you’re feeling better Steve” She said as they left the room, closing the door behind them.
“Now that we’re alone.” Billy raised his eyebrows seductively, leaning in close to pepper kisses on Steve's neck. “Talking on the phone isn’t as fun, baby.”
Steve stood quickly, pushing the other boy off of him. He huffed, trying to catch his breath, his heart was beating fast now, what in the world is going on in this dream.
“Don’t touch me Hargrove, what are you into me?” Steve asked slightly scared. “What kind of dream is this?” He asked himself, he gathered his bag quickly heading out the door. He closed the door before looking around as students passed by. He muttered a few excuse me’s as he passed quickly through the hallway and to the bathroom. He ran into the closest stall and shut the door.
Steve slumped down on the toilet trying to catch his breath. Did that really just happen? No way this was a dream he thought. This had to be a nightmare. How do you wake yourself up from a nightmare?
Steve stood then, trying to think before he reached down to pinch his arm.
“Shit!” he muttered. That hurt.
….
That hurt?
You can’t get hurt in dreams. Not even nightmares, so what the hell?
Steve took a deep breath and closed his eyes before reaching up to slap himself in the face. Monsters be damned he was not about to stay where people just kiss you, where boys just kiss you, where Billy Hargrove just kisses you and calls you baby. He gulped and opened his eyes, much to his dismay however, the only thing in front of him was a bathroom stall door. He was still in the boy’s bathroom.
“Steve?” he heard Billy call.
“Shit.” He grabbed his bag off the floor, sitting on the toilet and lifting his feet so it looked like no one was in the bathroom.
“Babe, I know you’re in here. “ Billy sighed.
Steve could hear the footsteps stop in front of the stall he was in.
“You do this every time you’re mad at me.” Billy murmured. “This time, I don’t know what I did, and I can’t fix it if you don’t tell me what's wrong baby.”
Billy was quiet then, he was still in front of the door but he had paused, waiting for Steve to say something.
“Please Steve, I love you, and I don’t like when you’re mad at me.”
“This is the worst dream I’ve ever had.” Steve whimpered then. He had meant to say it in his head, but he had indeed said it out loud.
“What dream? Why do you keep saying that?” Billy asked,Steve could see his feet turn to lean against the stall. “I talked to Nancy and Jonathan, they said you seemed a little off earlier. Something about you being in a dream?”
Steve looked up at the door, fuck it, if this was a dream, he was gonna talk to whoever he pleased.
“I’m gonna open the door.” He said quietly, watching as Billy’s figure disappeared from in front of the stall. He sighed, opening the door and stepping out slowly, spotting Billy who was now leaning against a sink with his arms crossed. “Before I talk, you and your lips need to stay over there.”
Billy chuckled a little but raised his hands in defense.
“I’m serious Hargrove, you stay over there, I stay over here or we won't talk.” Steve said.
“Fine, just please tell me what’s wrong. I don’t like seeing you upset.” Billy replied, crossing his arms again.
Steve took a deep breath, ready to sound absolutely crazy.
“This,” he gestured around himself “is all a dream. None of this is real, it’s just some weird dream I’m having that I can’t wake up from.”
“This is a dream?” Billy asked slowly.
Steve nodded quickly.
“It’s all a dream, all of it. None of this is real I swear. I fell asleep from dehydration more than likely after killing a demon or something. I woke up in my bed at home, with my parents being home. Which is crazy because my parents are never home! They're too busy traveling the world.” Steve exclaimed, looking at Billy.
“You’re parents the accountant and the dress designer? The ones who have never left Hawkins?” Billy asked.
“Yes! But no, in reality they work for the government. But then I get to school and Jonathan and Nancy are being all weird, and Nancy has a nose ring?!”
“A nose ring that you helped her pierce but okay.” Billy shrugged.
“And then you’re kissing on me as if we’re dating or something.Which is all kinds of crazy.”
“Steve, we’ve been dating for two years. What’s with the meltdown?” Billy urged, he had a look of concern on his face.

When Steve woke up, he once again expected to be cold.
He was warm again though, proving himself wrong.
Steve opened his eyes, groaning he looked around through hazy eyes, trying to focus himself. He could see himself in a mirror, blinking at his reflection. The bandage over his eyebrow really hurt, and he had a pounding headache. When he sat up, shrugging the blanket that was covering him off he sighed. Was he even still at the school? The surrounding didn’t look familiar to him, he looked around once more before his eyes landed on someone else in the room.
Oh.
He wasn’t alone.
Before he could fully freak out though, he could tell it wasn’t Hargrove again, it also wasn’t Nancy or Jonathan. Steve did have a guess though, looking at the pixie brown hair cut and too big glasses for her face.
“Barb?” He asked quietly, reaching up to rub at the back of his head, trying to soothe his headache.
“Hey Steve.” She replied, finally looking up at him.
Barbra Holland, she’d die Steve’s Junior year in his backyard. She’d disappeared from his backyard, and it had haunted him for ions. They had never really been friends, she was only ever around when he was trying to talk to Nancy. Even then, she gave off vibes of disapproval towards Steve. So why was she here now?
Steve had wanted to ask her, wanted to ask her if she had found her piece in this weird afterlife they were both in. The words wouldn’t come out though, he could only sit there in shock, staring back at her as she stared at him. His life had a lot of explaining to do, but he had nobody to ask, nobody to understand him.
“Billy had to go to class, if that’s who you're looking for.” She said, smirking at him.
He had in fact NOT been looking for Billy.
“He asked me to stop by during my free period to make sure you were okay. You gave everybody a heart attack you dingus.” Barb said, closing the book that was in her lap, and leaning back in her chair.
“I did?”
“Um yeah, you don’t remember anything do you?” She asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
“No, I can't remember anything if I’m being honest with you” Steve replied, giving an exhausted sigh. He genuinely felt as if he could sleep for years with how tired he was right now.
“Well, you passed out in the boys bathroom and hit your head pretty hard,Billy carried your ass to the nurse. Then you woke up and started freaking out apparently talking about everything being a dream. So the nurse gave you some prescribed meds and knocked you out for a few hours.” She said, reaching down to pull a satchel from between her legs and around her shoulders. “It's fourth period now, and my free period is almost over. So, I’ll text B and let him know you’re okay.” She stood then, walking past Steve and towards the door.
“Barb, I can’t remember anything. None of what you said makes sense!” He exclaimed, standing on wobbly legs and reaching for her. He grabbed her arm, stopping her. “ I just want someone to actually listen to me on this.”
“Steve we are all here to listen to you, that’s what friends are for.” Barb whispered, turning and placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. “It was just a little fall, you’ll be okay by lunch and in time for the basketball game tonight, okay?” She asked, turning to leave again.
“I don’t even know why I’m asking you for help.” Steve muttered to her back, making her stop and turn to him again.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” She sounded hurt.
Steve glanced at her, shit, he didn’t mean it like that.
“I didn’t mean it like that.” He sighed, shaking his head.
“Well how else am I supposed to take it? I thought we were like best friends Steve?” She asked, again the hurt tone in her voice, making Steve wince at her words.
“We are.. Well we’re not but I don’t know okay?” He stuttered, trying not to explode with emotion. His head was reeling at this point and his face felt hot. He felt just like he did early trying to explain his current situation to deaf ears. Why was nobody listening to him?
“Did I do something that I don’t know about? Or is this just your regularly scheduled crisis of the day?” She asked, taking a step back from him.
Barb stopped them, really looking at Steve, watching the nervousness in his eyes and the unease in his stature. And then, as if a light bulb had just been turned on,she looked around quickly, noticing the nurse on a phone call out in the hallway before she rushed and closed the door.Barb locked the door, turning to look at Steve slowly. “Steve what year did you fall asleep in?” She asked, approaching him carefully.
“What? What year? Is that some trick question?” Steve asked, running a hand through his hair, pacing in circles now.
“Steve,” Barb tried.
“If you don’t want to listen to me then you don’t have to but to make fun of me Barb, that's low.”
“Steve,” She tried again.
“I mean at least everyone else was a little genuine with their concern but I’m not crazy okay. And i don't even think this is a dream anymore. Not with-”
“Steve!” Barb tried again, waving her hands to get his attention to no avail.
“But this has to be a dream because how else would we be talking right now? You’re literally dead. So none of thi- HEY!” Steve finally stopped talking after he felt a sharp slap to his face. “That’s really NOT cool, especially since this is the kind of dream you get hurt in.” Steve muttered, looking up to see an annoyed looking Barb.
“Did you say I’m dead?” She whispered, grabbing both sides of his face and making him turn to look her in the eyes.
Steve nodded slowly.
“Steve,” She paused, taking a deep breath, “What year did you fall asleep in?” She asked again.
“1982.” He whispered back, looking at her intently.
Barbra let go of his face taking a shocked step back.
“Steve, you’re not in a dream.” She started, raising her arms to calm him.
“What are you talking about? Of course this is a dream?” Steve asked bewildered by her strange behavior all of a sudden.
She reached forward then, grabbing both of Steve’s hands in hers, and looking at his very confused face.
“Hey, Open this door! Children do not make me call the principal!” The nurses voice came through the locked door.
Both teens ignored the demand, attention staying on the other instead.
“Barb, what do you mean this isn’t a dream?” Steve asked again.
Barb looked down, taking another deep breath before looking up at Steve.
“Steve I did this.” She said, waiting for a response. She was met with silence so she continued. “I brought you to an alternate dimension with me.”
And with that, Steve may have fainted again.

“Are you sure we shouldn’t call his parents?” A female voice whispered harshly.
“Yeah right, remember the last time Steve tried out for sports?” That was Billy talking now. Steve could recognize that much
“Yeah like two years ago man so what?” A different female voice spoke up, maybe Nancy?
“He got a scrape on his knee and his parents almost had a heart attack.”
“I still think we should call someone” That was a different voice, a younger male voice, he knew that voice too though.
Steve sat up slowly from where he was lying down. His head was cold, he thought, raising his hand to remove a wet white cloth that was on his forehead. He looked around, eyes still a little fuzzy from being closed for too long. He was in the back of someone's car, that much was clear. Whose car, was a different question. He could still hear the voices outside of the car arguing back and forth over him. Steve took a deep breath, looking down at the car floor, seeing a bunch of open soda cans and scattered magazines. He took another deep breath, the car smelled of burned cinnamon sticks and ash.
Deciding he couldn’t take the arguing outside anymore, Steve opened the door. Spotting Billy first as he was closest to the car. He looked around at everyone else surrounding him. He saw Nancy and Jonathan which was a relief. What really threw him for a loop was seeing Barbra and Mike Wheeler standing in front of him as well, with concerned looks on their faces.
“B-Barb?” He asked quietly, standing to his feet a little wobbly. Billy reached out to grab his arm, helping to steady the boy. “You did this?” He asked, pointing an accusing finger at her.
Barb took a step back from the rest of the group, her eyes facing downwards.
“Baby take it easy.” Billy whispered in his ear.Pushing him back onto the car seat behind him.”All Barb did was call us all, she carried you from the nurses office, after convincing her not to snitch to your parents that you’ve fainted twice in a day.”
What? Had he imagined that whole conversation in the nurse's office.
“Are you sure nothing happened last night? This is weird even for Steve.” Nancy asked, her question directed towards her brother.
Mike shrugged, raising his hands in defense of whatever accusation he was being accused of.
“We all hung out just like we usually would. Steve picked us all up and took us to see the new Avengers movie, then we played arcade games all night, got some pizza and then he took us all home. That’s all. I don’t know what he did after that.”
He had been with the kids last night? That sounds like a typical Friday night for him. Still none of this dream made any sense, and Steve had no idea what was going on anymore.
“Avengers?” Steve asked, looking around at everyone as their attention turned to him once more. “What’s that?”
Nancy turned to her brother arms crossed again.
“See? This makes it seem like maybe you had something to do with this.” She said angrily.
“You also said that he didn’t even remember dating Billy. Did I have something to do with that too? He just asked your best friend if she was alive.” Mike exclaimed, pointing his finger at Barbra, “What would we have done to him for all of that?”
Billy turned to Steve, standing in front of him and placing one hand on his shoulder and using his other hand to tilt Steve’s head up to look at him.
“Baby,” he whispered “Did you take something after dropping the kids off?” he asked, a look of concern in his eyes.
Steve scoffed, pushing Billy away from him.
“I don’t do drugs, Hargrove, so don't accuse me of it. Also stop calling me baby.”Steve said huffing. “ It’s weird.”
He had to look away from the hurt look in Billy’s eyes, for some reason it really made his heart hurt to see the other boy look so heartbroken over his words. Steve sighed, crossing his arms and shaking his head.
“This is a really bad dream, this is a really bad dream, this is a really bad dream.” He muttered to himself on and on.
“What’d he just say? We’re all in a dream?” Mike asked, taken aback.
“Maybe we should just take Steve home?” Barb suggested from the background.
“We could do that, his moms always out doing stuff with clients until at least 5 pm” Billy said, turning to the group. “I think he’s just tired honestly.”
“I can’t skip today guys, I have a math exam to pass.” Jonathan said suddenly, wrapping an arm over Nancy's shoulders.
“Yeah, I’ve got a Student Council Meeting after lunch today, and you kinda need the president there for that.” Nancy said next. “Let us know how everything goes okay?” She asked, before turning to Steve, a concerned look gracing her face. “Feel better Stevie, we’ll stop by after school.” The couple said their goodbyes before walking back into the school.
“Shit, I have practice after school today too, we have the basketball game today and Coach wants us to run a couple of plays.” Billy cursed under his breath. “I’ll just skip, no way am I letting you out of my sight.” Billy said, turning to Steve and caressing the boy's soft face with his closed fist.
“No way are you coming to my house Hargrove.” Steve scoffed, turning away from the other boy.
“Listen here princess, fix your attitude now.” Billy demanded, grabbing Steve's chin to force the boy to look at him. “I don’t care if you’re being a brat right now, or even if you’re mad at me for whatever, I’m taking you home. You don’t need to be alone.”
Steve struggled to get out of Billy’s firm grip, feeling slightly embarrassed to have this happening in front of Barb and Mike Wheeler who were both adverting their eyes from the two in front of them. Before Steve could come up with a response that would’ve no doubt angered Billy even more, Barb cut in.
“Actually, I’m done for the day, I don’t mind making sure Steve gets home alright.” She said, shrugging her shoulders.
Billy sighed, and looked as if he was thinking it over before he let go of Steve’s chin and nodded.
“Fine, but please take care of him.” He grumbled, turning to Mike next “and you go back to class.”
“Gladly,” Mike smirked before waving to Steve “See you later Steve, game night at ours tomorrow, you bring the snacks this time!” He shouted jogging off back towards the school.
Barbra nodded her head, reaching out to take Steve’s keys from Billy who had them in his pocket.
“I’ll bring his car around, I rode with Nancy today anyways.” She said walking off.
Steve turned to watch her walk away and shook his head, had he really imagined all of that conversation? Was this really just some weird dream he couldn’t seem to wake up from? Before he could delve deeper into his own thoughts, he turned to look at a hurt Billy Hargrove.
“Listen man, I don’t know why you’re so obsessed with me in this dream, but thanks I guess.” Steve said, trying to ease the tension.
Billy looked at him then, a strange look in his eyes as he looked Steve up and down.
“Baby, I don’t know whats going on in that pretty little head of yours today.” He said, shaking his head. “But if there’s anything you ever wanna talk about just tell me.” Billy sighed turning back towards the school. “I love you Steve Harrington, and whatever I did I’m sorry okay.” he turned back towards Steve, biting his lip worriedly waiting for a response.
Steve coughed awkwardly.
“Um I forgive you?”
He must have said the right thing because Billy smiled then, and took three large steps towards him until they were face to face.
“Don’t ever scare me like that again.” Billy laughed, “I thought you were trying to figure out a nice way to break up with me or something.” He said putting hands in his pocket and giving a small shrug.
“Well I-”
Steve was cut off then by a surge of lips pressed against his. He wanted to push Billy off of him and punch him in the face, but something was holding him back. Billy was really warm, pulling Steve closer to his chest. It wasn’t a rough kiss where their lips were mashed together as if they were fighting one another, but it wasn’t a soft peck to the lips either. Steve could feel his whole body on fire, before Billy finally pulled back, a giant grin on his face.
Steve was in shock, too much of a shock to do anything else. Did he really just let Billy Hargove lay one on him as if he was some girl?
“Text me when you get home babe,” Billy said before turning and walking towards the school. Making Steve jump, when he heard the car lock itself. So, that was Billy’s car, interesting.
“Hey Steve!” Barb shouted at him, she was pulled up in the car he had driven to school this morning just a few spots down from where he was.
He made her way over to her quickly getting in and closing the door as she drove off.
Steve sighed, taking a second to actually collect himself and relax in the passenger seat. This day keeps getting weirder, he thought to himself. Nothing was making any sense to him.
“Sorry I kinda exploded at you Barb, I guess I’m not feeling well” Steve said, trying to play it cool in front of her.
“Cut the bs Steve.” She muttered, turning out of the school's parking lot and onto the road. “You’re just fine, you’re not crazy and you’re not in a dream.” She exclaimed seriously. She looked over at his surprised look and sighed. “Look I wasn’t kidding earlier when I said I brought you here, I did do this okay?”
“You.. you what? You’re seriously telling me this is an alternate universe?” Steve asked skeptically.
“Yes Steve, and I’m the only other person who knows, so maybe stop blabbing about it too literally everyone. They don’t know what you’re talking about and they’ll think you’re crazy, trust me I know.”
Steve sat staring at her in silence, his mouth hanging open as he tried to form words.
“Listen okay, I woke up here four years ago with a completely different life. I wasn’t even in Hawkins, when I got here. I woke up in Columbus, Ohio. I tried to explain to everybody that I had just died but everyone thought I was crazy too, I thought it was a dream or at least Heaven. It took me awhile to figure it out, but when I was dying I dreamed of a happier place with no problems like the one I was in, and when I opened my eyes that’s exactly where I was. I didn’t get to pick my reality or anything like that I was just here and I was happy.” She paused again, pulling the car off to the side of the road and turning to look at Steve who had the same confused look on his face.
“You still with me dingus for brains?” She asked, tilting her head annoyed.
Steve nodded slowly.
“My parents moved to Hawkins to be closer to my grandma three years ago, and I had to become friends with everybody all over again, Nancy, Jonathan, Billy and even you. Along with a few other people. Everything was fine and I was finally happy, nothing weird happens here, okay?” She asked, waiting for Steve’s head nod to continue.
“Okay, but how’d you bring me here?” Steve asked pointing to himself, making Barb sigh and scratch the back of her neck.
“Well, last night I had a dream, well more of a nightmare really. I was watching everybody fight these weird demon-like creatures and run to safety, everybody I knew and loved.Everyone else got away except you, Nancy kept saying she was gonna go back for you and to stay put on a walkie talkie, but she didn’t come back, so I just sat with you. And well,” She stopped trying to collect herself.
“And what Barb?”
“And you were dying Steve” She said sadly” So I just kinda wished for you to come to where I was, a happier place. And that’s what brought you here. After I wished it, you closed your eyes and everything went white. Next thing I know I’m waking up and going to school. I didn’t think it was real until you started talking to me in the nurse's office.” Barb finally finished.
Steve sat for a minute, turning to look forward rather than at Barb who was looking at him intently. He didn’t feel light headed anymore all of a sudden. Everything was starting to make a lot of sense actually. This wasn’t a dream if what Barb was saying was true and if he believed her. Did he believe her?
“It wasn’t Nancy.” He said suddenly, turning back to glance at Barb “It was you.” He said, shocked.
“What was me?” Barb asked, now confused on what they were talking about.
“I remember right before I closed my eyes in the, well the other universe, a voice was calling out my name. I thought it was Nancy calling me but it wasn’t.” He said.
“I didn’t think you could actually hear me.”She said quietly in disbelief.
The two stared at each other for a long time not saying anything.
“Barb, can you take me home?” Steve asked, “ I think we have a lot to figure out, and you have a lot to catch me up on.”
you’re still special to me, baby
This is lowkey trash but I’m never sorry for writing this trash and I refuse to be sorry now lol. Mafia au with Mob boss Billy and Sugar baby Steve. Its soft so you might have to squint. sorrynotsorry (okay I’m sorry) There’s also a small small very minor character death. Enjoy?
“I say we have a snitch on our hands men”
They’re all sitting around a circle table. The game has been over for hours, not that it mattered. The game was a mere distraction to what they had all really gathered for.
Billy had called upon his top four men, because they indeed have a snitch, and when you’re the head of an underground very illegal comp[any, you put a stop to snitches. He turns to his left, and ashes the cigarette in his hand directly into the mans whiskey glass.
“Tell me number two, who do you think that snitch is?” He asks, a smirk on his lips.
Number two takes a small gulp, half meeting Billy’s eyes.
“I have my suspicions boss.” he says, glancing down to his feet.
Billy crosses his arms and leans back in his chair, looking around slowly at his companions. Before he can say anything else however, he turns his head at the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs. His guards reach for the guns quickly, ready to defend against the threat.
“Daddy?” A soft voice calls. “Are you down here?”
Billy’s guards lower their hands, moving to relax at hearing Steve’s voice down the stairs
.
“Yes baby” Billy calls, voice thick but demeanor softening.
Steve stops at the bottom step, a long sleeved pink sweater draping down past his slim hips, he had on a pair of pajama shorts and a pair of white fuzzy socks. He cocks his head to the side, moving to push his soft brown curls out of his eyes. He looks tired Billy thinks. His poor baby, rubs his eyes and looks at him, it makes Billy’s heart skip a beat at the sight.
“It’s getting late is everything okay?” Steve asks, cocking his head to the side.
His baby is so considerate.
Billy pulls out his gun and sets it down openly on the table, turning to Steve with wide open arms that his boy rushes into.
“Everything’s fine baby, I’ve told you being in the basement is no place for a delicacy like you” Billy said, kissing Steve on the forehead.
His comrades turn, not making eye contact with Chicago’s most dangerous couple. They know better.
“I heard you talking daddy,” Steve says back, rubbing his nose across Billy’s neck. “And I think you’re right”
He grabs Billy’s gun and jumps out of his lap, pointing the gun directly at number 3 who in return jumps out of his seat scared.
The rest of the men look startled, the bodyguards reach to their sides to clutch their own guns just in case number 3 gets any bright ideas. Billy however, doesn’t flinch, and watches on with a peak of interest.
“Anything you wanna get off your chest 3?” He asks him, taking another hit from his cigarette.
Number 3 noticeably gulps and furiously shakes his head. He runs his sweaty hands down his black pants quickly.
“Boss, I ain’t no snitch, he’s crazy”
“You calling my baby a liar?” Billy asks, raising his eyebrow at the man in question, who again furiously shakes his head.
“Never never boss. I-I-“
“ Daddy I think someone’s nervous” Steve giggles, he drops Billy’s gun on the table in front of him and walks over to number 3. “ You don’t wanna lie to my daddy, that makes him a very unhappy man” Steve whispers in his ear, he reaches down and pulls a small pink needle point knife out of his sock.
Number 3 looks as if he may pass out, while Billy looks nothing more than amused as he watches his baby work.
Steve opens the knife and slides the dull side of it along number 3′s neck slowly. He slips the knife into his shirt and looks up at Billy smiling.
“Daddy!” He says excitedly, “Look what i found!” He says as he cuts open the mans shirt to reveal a wire hooked to his chest.
The room bursts with the sounds of guns loading and angry grunts.Everyone waits though, just to see what Billy’s command will be.
“You’re so smart baby, and that was so considerate to help him reveal himself to us.” Billy smirks. He grabs his gun and stands, fixing his suit and tie before walking across the room to wear Steve is now holding number 3 with a knife to his neck.
“Boss please, you’ve known me for years. I would never sell you out unless I had to.” The man pleads, he drops to his knees with his arms in the air desperately. “Billy, you know me.”
Billy almost starts to debate it, before he raises his gun and shoots him in the side of his head.
“The nights over, go home. Number 4 help them clean this up and dispose of it.” He says calmly putting his gun back by his side. The others nod, as they start to disperse and number starts on ridding the body along with Billy’s bodyguards.
“What about me daddy?” Steve asks innocently, he stashes his knife back in his sock and looks up at Billy through his lashes.
“I’ve got something real special for you bambi.”
“Well I hope it includes a shopping spree.” Steve giggles again, wrapping his arms around Billy’s neck.
“That and a whole lot more princess.” He says leaning down to kiss his boy hard.
