can you remind this person that these stories are gifts for other people though? and it's important to consider what that person wants is most important and the opportunity for follow ups isnt like... the point?

this is a really good point, thanks lissie!  these stories should definitely be able to stand alone, signed, sealed, delivered.  your story should feel complete and should leave your characters at a point where you don't need to write anything more to finish their story.
