Creeper incident of the day: Harvard spied on its deans

16 Harvard deans had their email accounts accessed by administrators last fall in an effort to figure out who was leaking information regarding a mass-cheating incident to the media. The investigation did in fact pinpoint a dean who was leaking such information, but not intentionally. The dean in question sent an e-mail to a Harvard student they were helping to advise, but that confidential email ended up making its way to the media as a result. Harvard University central administrators secretly searched the email accounts of 16 resident deans last fall, looking for a leak to the media about the school’s sprawling cheating case.
