Court Grants Order to Freeze Hashfast’s Bitcoin Wallets
By Jon Southurst, Coindesk.com
A court in Fort Worth, Texas, has granted a temporary restraining order to freeze the bitcoin wallets of ASIC mining hardware manufacturer HashFast Technologies LLC and HashFast LLC, after a customer claimed it failed to deliver hardware on time or negotiate a refund.
The TRO was part of a wider lawsuit filed against HashFast on 27th March by Cypher Enterprises, who claim it ordered and paid HashFast for several items of bitcoin mining hardware in early October last year. The complaint says HashFast failed to meet its promised delivery date later that month, prompting Cypher Enterprises to cancel its orders.

Silicon Valley startups race to sell ‘shovels’ to bitcoin miners
18 November 2013 | By Cromwell Schubarth | bizjournals.com
A pair of Silicon Valley startups are racing to make equipment to help mine bitcoins, the virtual currency which hit a record value of $600 on Monday.
San Jose-based HashFast and San Francisco-based 21E6 are part of a wave of companies that aim to do what the mostsuccessful business people did during the California gold rush — sell picks and shovels to the miners.
But in the age of bitcoin the miners use powerful computers that earn the currency by being the first to solve complex problems that get generated every 10 minutes or so. The problems have become more complex as more miners get involved, requiring ever more power and better equipment.
Companies like HashFast and 21E6 are working on specially designed chips that will drive new equipment specifically aimed at doing this more efficiently.
Bloomberg reported on Friday that 21E6 is co-founded by Balaji Srinivasan, a former Stanford University professor and data-mining expert who recently was quoted at Y Combinator startup school suggesting that Silicon Valley might do best if it secedes from the country.

HashFast Announces Open Sourcing of Bitcoin Mining ASIC Interface Protocol
29 October 2013 | By Phillip Archer | thegenesisblock.com
Today HashFast announced they are open sourcing the interface protocol used for controlling their bitcoin mining ASICs. Open sourcing this design gives significant insight into how their bitcoin miners operate and provides a platform for driver developers. More users collaborating in driver development should allow for a more diverse set of options, and a better experience for HashFast customers.
In July HashFast announced a partnership with Uniquify to design the 400 GH/s “Golden Nonce” ASIC, and on September 5 they announced tapeout of their chips with Taiwan Semiconductor. In order to prepare driver developers for the ASICs mid-November arrival, HashFast released an 84-page document explaining how their ASICs are used and details about their interface protocol design. Avalon released a similar open source description of their chip communication spec in April, which lead to a large variety of collaborative projects.

Seasonic to Power Hashfast Bitcoin Mining Equipment
24 October 2013 | By E. Fylladitakis | anandtech.com
Seasonic and HashFast Technologies announced that they have signed an agreement for Seasonic to produce power supplies for HashFast’s Bitcoin mining systems.
Seasonic is one of the oldest and most reputable manufacturers of high performance PC power supply units, held in high regard by enthusiasts. Today, the company channels their products via their own retail brand but their designs can also be found behind many other brand names, as they also cooperate with many other companies as an OEM of high performance PSUs. HashFast on the other hand is a new company which has just been founded recently and is based in San Jose, California. HashFast currently plans to focus on the manufacture of Bitcoin ASICs.
HashFast is particularly excited about the Seasonic partnership, given the PSU company’s reputation in the industry. In order to accommodate what appears to be standard ATX form factor Seasonic PSUs, the rack mounted HashFast Sierra mining boxes now feature a 4U chassis. HashFast currently offers two mining systems: the tower form factor Baby Jet with a single ASIC, starts at $2250, while the multi-ASIC, rack-mountable Sierra starts at $6300. Both HashFast mining engines feature, aside from Seasonic power supplies of currently unknown specifications, liquid cooling solutions. They are expected to be available before Christmas.
