Understanding #CancelColbert

I just want to point out that almost everyone who is writing about why the #CancelColbert campaign is ridiculous is not Asian, and not even an ethnic minority for that matter.

I also want to take this opportunity to say that if you really want to know why the #CancelColbert campaign is ridiculous and horribly misleading, you should read Jay Caspian Kang's piece in the New Yorker called "Understanding the Campaign to 'Cancel' Colbert". And as far as white journalists are concerned, I think The Atlantic's Conor Friedersdorf did a good job only because he actually read, understood, and referred to Kang's piece in the New Yorker. So 100 points to Conor Friedersdorf for understanding (at least to a certain extent) that he benefits from white privilege so he shouldn't just consult himself for an opinion on this whole spectacle of a campaign.

But let's be real here: no one's going to read the articles. People just read the headlines and get all up in arms about things that they don't care to do their research on.
