Day 112 of 365 - Furnace Mountain is the tallest peak of the Catoctin Mountains in Loudoun County, Virginia. It rises steeply from the southern banks of the Potomac River across from Point of Rocks, Maryland reaching an elevation of 891 feet. Its name arises from the iron furnaces located at its base, which operated from the 1790s to the 1870s. The furnaces were used to process iron ore mined from the mountain, much of which was used to build the burgeoning city of Washington D.C. source - Wikipedia #loudouncounty #mountain #cloudysky #windowscreen #hasselblad907x50c #365days #365 #365photochallenge2022 Hasselblad 907x/CFV II 50C XCD 45P 1/120sec | f16 | ISO 400 (at Lovettsville, Virginia) https://www.instagram.com/p/CcqsYeXOKFV/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
