The hardest part about this chapter is that there are three personalities in one character, and they each have to stay IC. It’s driving me bonkers, guys, because I can’t let any one personality get away from me. Phantom’s personality can’t take charge even though that would be for the best given the tension with Valerie because then his powers will react. Fenton doesn’t have that problem but he’s so awkward around Valerie and ready to fight if necessary he can’t be allowed to dominate their actions. Ideally, their joined personality (Danny) could handle things just fine, but Fenton’s and Phantom’s minds aren’t fusing well, and I have to show that by allowing Danny’s personality to slip between Fenton and Phantom...while keeping Danny IC. The fffffuuuuck

I also gotta keep the dialogue flowing with Valerie and the Pitch Pearl from stagnating so...Haaaaa...I’m a juggling act this chapter, my friends....

#the suave and the awkward #see? it all sounds easy when I explain it #BUT MY NOTES LIED TO ME #IT'S REALLY FUDGING HARD #chapter 11 is a monster and when I finish writing it I'm treating myself to ice cream #hang the lactose intolerance #no one is even going to like it that much because there's so little Phantom/Fenton interaction and what there is #is mostly flashbacks and subtext #all of this can be summed up: I hate this chapter and I'm sorry it's taking so long #blame the Dannys #hatehatehatehate
