The Blueprint for a Perfect Custom Cap: Why Your Factory Needs a Real Hat Tech Pack
Sent a rough sketch to a factory and got back a completely different hat? You're not alone.
The fix is a proper hat tech pack. Here are 4 things most beginners miss (from our experience running a cap factory):
1. Panel Specs — 5-panel vs 6-panel? Structured or unstructured? Specify buckram lining if you want that crisp, high-profile shape.
2. Stitches Per Inch (SPI) — Premium streetwear brands demand 7-8 SPI on the brim. Don't leave this to chance.
3. Logo Placement — Don't say "center." Say "2.5 inches from bottom seam" and specify the technique (3D puff, flat stitch, woven patch).
4. Closure & Sweatband — Plastic snap vs leather strap? Make sure your sweatband is moisture-wicking if it's for activewear.
