Mary Margaret’s mood wasn’t getting any better as the days past, though Emma...Emma felt like she was maybe getting through to her some. Late night talks and sleeping on the couch with Mary Margaret only a few feet away because the thought of the empty apartment was too much had really taken it out of her, but she didn’t care. And she thought...she could see something in Mary Margaret’s eyes when she woke up to see her roomie watching her from behind the bars. Surprise, care, a part of Emma hoped it was family. Felt like it was that missing piece. It was something she hadn’t ever had and something she ws just getting with Henry. Something she really wanted to keep.
But Gold showed up with dinner for himself and his ‘client’ and wanted to talk to Mary Margaret about the hearing the next morning, so Emma excused herself to go home for the night. She was nervous and kind of grateful for the excuse to go, though she wouldn’t say it. The threat of losing something precious to prison, again, had her on pins and needles. It just took her back too far into her past and by the time she got to the apartment her skin was itching. She picked up the mail from the pile that had collected under the mail chute, already shedding her jacket. Blah, blah, bill, unmarked. And thick. Not just the parcel of paper inside, the envelope itself was a nice quality. Not cheap stock.
The photo she saw when she opened it froze her blood. She hadn’t seen it in almost six years, mostly because she hadn’t wanted to. But also because she had made damn sure that the site was gone, the company that had shut down had assured her that the site was gone. She hadn’t found it when she’d done a sweep with her own snoopy programs, which had calmed her. But someone had found evidence of her time as a call girl post-prison, which was why she was holding the image of herself in the revealing nightie. She turned it over to find an address and a time with only four words. We need to talk.
So maybe she carried her gun with her when she went, but Emma wasn’t sure what she was walking into. She sure as hell didn’t take her nightie, that was for sure. But she pulled up to a mansion a few minutes before seven with her heart pounding a little too heavily and slamming the door loudly. She marched up the steps, then paused. She’d been worried, wondering who it was, what they’d wanted, why not just give the information to Regina...a million questions and worries. She took a breath and raised her hand, knocking twice before crossing her arms.
