Haunting echoes || Clara and the Doctor
The only thing that mattered in that moment was one sentence. 'You're a Dalek, Oswin.' That one sentence was echoing around her head again and again, despite her best attempt to stop it.
It couldn't be true. She was human.
It had to be true. He wouldn't lie.
She tried fighting it; she tried to fight it using all of the strength that she had left, but it was too strong. The hatred felt like it had consumed her completely, and she could detachedly feel the Dalek shell not hers, never hers rolling forwards towards the man who had tried to help her, with the shrill voice that had haunted her dreams screaming out that word.
Exterminate! Exterminate! Exterminate!
But then, just like that, she opened her eyes. She was no longer curled into a ball in an imaginary pod. She was laying spread out on a bed. Her bed.
That thought didn't do much to comfort her, though. All she could remember was the pain, because she had been turned into a Dalek; they'd forced it upon her, and the anger and then the fear. So she did the only thing that her emotionally drained body could think to do. She curled up tightly into a ball, and cried.
