hawks' verse are some of my favorite fics to revisit because noone has any chill. they're all such messes and menaces. also the premise is just plain hilarious.

The woman Quinlan was speaking to chuckles, rising from the table. “If you’ll excuse me, I have a class to teach,” she says, leaning over to kiss Quinlan on the cheek. “Good hunting, it seems.”

“Thanks, Shaak,” Quinlan returns, rueful. “Good luck with the freshmen.”

“We’ll finish our discussion later,” Shaak assures him, then catches the strap of her bag and sails out of the shop.

Quinlan looks after her longingly, and Keeli takes one look at his face and snorts. “You're going to make me jealous, Professor,” he says, dry.

“You should be,” Quinlan tells him cheerfully. “She’s the leading expert on pollen archeology in the whole world. All she has to do is wink at me and I’ll be at her feet barking like a dog.”

“You're into that?” Keeli raises a brow. “I might not be able to compete in the pollen studies department, but if you want me to make you bark like a dog—”

“Please stop talking,” Rex says, deeply pained, and tightens his grip on Jon before Jon can flee the coffee shop.

“Maybe,” Ulic tells Atin, “you actually married the wrong Fett. Keeli seems like a much better match.”

Atin doesn’t shove him, mostly because he recognizes that if he tries, it will end with him in another headlock. “Maybe,” he retorts, “we should find out which one I married before we call him the wrong one.”

“Well. I presume they're not gone on the form the clerk filed,” Ulic says, dry. He looks from the certificate to Atin, and that pitying gaze is deeply unappreciated coming from someone who used to let Exar Kun shove his slimy tongue down their throat. “Atin. Please tell me you know what your husband’s name is.” There's absolutely no way Atin can answer that and keep even a shred of his dignity intact.
