The loves of Hazestorm
Cw: discussions of verbal and physical abuse; image containing possible eye strain
His first mate was a cat named Violet, who he had gotten along great with as friends. However, Violet quickly fell for him and confessed their feelings. Haze didn't reciprocate, but he'd never been in a relationship before, and figured he'd say yes because of how close they were. The honeymoon phase was wonderful. All Violet's attention was on Haze, and they were inseparable...until Violet became emotionally dependent on Haze to their own detriment. Haze tried to be a pillar of support for his partner, but he couldn't be there all the time. The stability shattered into eggshells on the ground, and with every wrong step, Violet would threaten to harm himself. At one point, Violet ended up harming Haze, but felt extremely guilty and tried to harm himself, which Haze had to stop. Admittedly, Haze wasn't the best at handling this, since he had no experience on what or how to do it. He definitely screwed up many times during the relationship. They were not compatible at all, and Haze clearly wasn't what Violet needed. The relationship ended when Violet developed feelings for two other cats and wanted to open up the relationship. Haze didn't agree, and they ended things amicably. They were still close after, but recently, things have been shaky. They barely talk.
Next, Haze had found himself drawn to the Clans, and more specifically a warrior named Sleetclaw. The deputy's son met Haze at the border and bantered with him constantly. Eventually, the two became close friends and Sleetclaw convinced Haze to join the Clans, ignoring the cultish behaviors, where he would train for a while and earn the name Hazestorm. Sleetclaw and Hazestorm became mates soon after. Blackice, Sleetclaw's father and the deputy of his Clan, would die from a hostile border skirmish, which badly affected Sleetclaw. The white and gray tom would become highly aggressive and ambitious, hellbent on revenge. Hazestorm was there for him as best as he could be, but Sleetclaw brushed him off more and more. Things turned sour when Sleetclaw claimed the deputy role and started turning his hostility towards his mate for not supporting him enough. Hazestorm recognized from his experiences with Violet that there was nothing more he could do for Sleetclaw and broke things off. Hazestorm left the Clans to return to his loner colony, where he would be needed more. Here in the Clans, there was nothing for him.
And now, in current day, Hazestorm had stumbled across a WindClan warrior named Hillrunner, who was looking for specific herbs that weren't found on the moor. Hazestorm guided the warrior to a patch outside of the Clan territories, and they parted on good terms. Hillrunner believed he recognized Hazestorm, and he replied with a vague answer on his history with the Clans. The two ended up talking more and more, and for once, Hazestorm felt a click with him that he hadn't with his previous partners. Hillrunner would sneak out of camp to meet up with Hazestorm and the two would talk for hours and hours under the stars. It felt like they could talk forever! They wanted to pursue a romantic relationship, but Hillrunner had his duties to the Clan, and Hazestorm wasn't fit for Clan life. It was too soon, he reckoned. Things worsened when the original territories were being destroyed and forcing the four Clans to leave. Hazestorm decided to accompany Hillrunner on his journey to make sure he and his family would be safe. Plus, they'd have some more time together before they would have to be permanently split.
However, Hazestorm wasn't expecting Hillrunner to want to leave WindClan right as they arrived at their new home. Now that he was sure his family would be okay, he decided to follow his heart and join Hazestorm's colony. Hazestorm asked Hillrunner if he was certain many times, but was elated when Hillrunner stuck by his decision. Now, the two reside on the outskirts of the Twoleg town as mates. Hillrunner is more than welcome to go back to the Clans if he changes his mind, but so far, he doesn't seem eager to leave.
