MBA Student at Hampton University Perspective
Hampton University Bans Business Majors from Wearing Cornrows and Dreadlocks →
What do you think?
I am a MBA student at Hampton University and I see no problem with Hampton School of Business saying that male students can't have dreadlocks or cornrows. Most of the time, college students do not have the time or money to keep up their hair, yes there are a few exceptions but for the most part if a man's hair isn't in a fade, it ain't done. I don't see any Black CEOs with cornrows in their hair or dreadlocks. Our dean is just trying to prepare us for the real world. I saw some comments that I wanted to address...To the person who put white supremacy, Hampton is a black school with an African-American Dean so there is no white supremacy going on at Hampton thank you. To the person who talked about conforming, I think it is sad that African-Americans have to conform to make it in the business world and just because you can't wear dreads or cornrows doesn't make us any less black. First impressions are everything, Hampton is a school of excellence and our dean is trying to make us the best, in how we act, dress and learn. Like one of my fellow MBA student said HAMPTON AIN'T FOR EVERYONE!
200 Followers +1.
After 6 weeks, we have finally reached 200 followers! Thank you for all of your support! I started this site so I and other HBCU students can learn about other schools around the country. I want to know about student life, community service projects, fashion, music, entertainment, sports, and even greek life. And I can't get all this information alone, so continue to submit post, videos, links, etc about your HBCU! Tell us why you love your HBCU, and show us what we are missing not attending your school. Let's continue to uplift the HBCU culture, and showcase our schools in positive light! I hope when the school year starts we get more and more submissions! Tell your HBCU peers about us as well, and reach out to them to submit post! Remember it all begins with hbcYOU!
