capsize running around the mansion, what type of bs horror scenarios does she have to deal with, besides the puzzles ofc
Oh, so much horror bullshit
Primarily, she is being fully hunted throughout this mansion. Obviously there is Jordan (The Archer) who, after alerting the two others of her escape from the bedroom, very quickly sets about hunting her down. As his title suggests, he has his bow and while he knows for his Lady’s sake he can’t kill Capsize, he is very happy to injure her to make her easier to drag to the ritual chamber. He clearly resents Capsize for not appreciating his Lady’s attention and seems to take pleasure in each shot landed.
He’s very quickly joined by Tucker (The Hunter) and Sonja (The Witch), both of whom have their own methods for attempting to capture her. Unlike Jordan, they have their own goals beyond just taking Capsize to the ritual chamber, though this doesn’t make encounters with them any better for her as they still intend to get Ianite’s reward for delivering her - they just want to drag things out a bit longer.
The further the night goes on, the more they’re joined by puppets of Ianite which are unthinking devices whose only purpose is to grab Capsize and drag her closer to the ritual chamber.
I haven’t really decided what she ends up with access to, but at least at the beginning of the night, Capsize’s only ‘weapon’ is the flashgun that was left in her camera kit. Her actual camera has been taken, so she isn’t taking photographs, but she can use the flashgun as a light blast to temporarily stun those chasing her. This is not nearly good enough a weapon for her peace of mind (though it does kill the puppets).
Secondly, there is the increasing presence of Lady Ianite’s voice within her mind.
As the night goes on, Capsize slowly begins to hear messages from and see images of Lady Ianite telling her what to do and attempting to gain control over her. She attempts to convince Capsize that the ritual is her destiny, and they are meant to be bound together in this way. The longer the night goes on, the harder it becomes for Capsize to remind herself of her life outside the mansion.
(If this was a literal video game, imagine Capsize having a health meter and then a ‘sense of self’ meter. Ianite is constantly trying to drain the second to convince Capsize to go along with the ritual willingly).
Then thirdly, there’s the fact that all her crew has been put into basically saw traps in different parts of the mansion.
As a part of the night’s ritual, each of the three has been assigned to act as a representation of a natural element of one of the ancient gods (earth, fire, and water). This representation has the chosen die via this element to bolster the power of the ritual and aid its success.
This is a whole backstory that Capsize doesn’t give a rat’s ass about because it means her loved ones are stuck in chambers where they’re intended to die in very painful ways and will if she can’t help them. She essentially has to either sabotage the traps so they can’t function or work with the person within to complete a puzzle to disarm it after being triggered.
The general concept is bad enough, but the hunters also have a tendency to lurk around the traps as they know that Capsize will be attempting to help the victims within. This means that by the time only one is left, all three hunters are closing in on the area as she’s desperately trying to save everyone.
There’s also, generally, the evidence that she finds throughout the night that she has been stalked for months before tonight and this might not end even if she manages to escape the mansion.
