Something for your consideration: Cradling the head, could be to provide comfort as part of a hug, or because the character is too weak to support it on their own etc. (Bonus extra angsty version if the character is already passed saving and this little bit of tenderness is all they can do for them now.)

I wish it was used more often because it's so soft and wonderful and I get whumperflies any time it happens. It's like my favorite comfort trope.
