sweats at y’alls kissing headcanons, anarkia is only selectively liberal with her kisses??? she says things, she threatens people with them, and she teases them but until she’s really sure if that’s what they want, she won’t exactly give?
sometimes it makes for an ice-breaker, but not always - it depends on who she’s interacting with. when she finally does leave butterfly kisses on someone though, when it’s the kind that travels from one point to another, soft, and she bites a little - that’s when you know she wants you.
once again an issue of two separate individuals with two absolutely different approaches to life and its answers. but both are characters i can see being very involved in everything that is related to science, and would actually have debates over it.
most people might not actually approach iron in that because she is so closed off as an individual (understandably so), but people forget that stargazer is just as closed off herself (knowing that people are terrified of her ability to see the future, etc).
and for that, i can imagine stargazer being the first to tease iron if just to be a menace, while also attempting to advocate for her own self-care. while i know anne is likely to be present, anne is also just as unhinged about being able to love somebody (her patients), which kind of defeats the purpose of her being capable to see where she herself might need care. stargazer, i feel, might be able to see that gap, and help iron - and in turn, anne.
Overcome with the desire to write how Anarkia deals with romantic / sexual feelings and how to go about shipping with her, so I think we'll go with that.
In my carrd, I have written her orientation as pansexual demiromantic, which means her capacity for both are somewhat different, but one should not invalidate the other.
To describe it, well. She is more than capable of sexual attraction regardless of gender, but is very reserved when it comes to admitting romance.
While she has no preference in terms of attraction, she does interact with an evident bias, because she is wounded from her experience with a certain binary gender (men). I headcanon as having her trust in men having been broken by the general public, rather than by men through romantic relations. Which is why I like to write her as being more biting and sarcastic with men, until they prove to her that they can be trusted, and vice versa.
I have reasons to believe that she has very little romantic experience, but has likely been able to touch another sensually. She is just generally more reserved in terms of admitting to a romantic relationship, but when she does, she loves wholeheartedly. This, I believe, is reserved for someone she considers as "special", and it is unknown whether that "special" aspect is at her own discretion and choice, or someone with a special trait of their own (survival, anger, guilt, etc). I feel like the most important part in getting to know Anarkia intimately is honesty and transparency, that one should trust being placed in her hands.
For all this, I believe she is more attracted to someone who is honest and unlikely to put on a face for others. Someone who knows to address their feelings rather than hide being a false expression, or even someone who admits to being confused at a depth of their own feelings.
Sexually, Anarkia does not require much outside of the general attraction, but it would be nice to be romantically attached. She does not fall easily, because her heart has been devoted to the concept that is the Dreamflower. To a certain degree, she almost believes herself to be above the human need for companionship and desire, but it is up to me (and my fellow writers) to prove her wrong.
Writer's Note: I will not be shipping with doubles of one character (especially if it's a shipping partner), and I do want to be more trusting of people to ship with, but it takes me time to do so. I am especially wary when it comes to shipping with a character like Anarkia, who has an unfortunate history of being fetishised. With that said, if we have done a few back and forth and sent asks to each other, I am open to DMing and planning!
(content warning: mention of violence, mention of genocide)
A Pre-Islamic tradition once told the story of a blue-eyed woman, who lived in the city of Al-Yamamah. She was a women whose eyesight was sharper than most, intuition surpassed those of warring men, and most of all - the ability to predict things before they happened.
The ancient tale told the story of the town relying very much on her sight and to detect enemies, as she was believed by the villagers that she could see riders one week ahead of their arrival. Eventually, the raiders that came knew of her sight, and hid behind trees, moving with trees that slowly came closer to the village every day.
However, because Zarqa informed the townspeople that the trees were moving towards them, while hiding the true raiders, her fellow villagers refused to believe her and thought she was going mad. The troops of the HImyari kingdom, led by Hassan al-Himyari reached her tribe and killed every single man in the camp, and later crucified her after gouging her eyes out.
(if it helps to understand, the names of Arabs in the time of Pre-Islam were often (first name) followed by (tribe or town). Zarqa is typically referred to as Zarqa Al-Yamamah, however, she is noted to come from the tribe of Jadis, as she was married off. The Himyarites used to lead the genocide of the Jadis tribe, leading to their extinction.)
I have reasons to believe that the Stargazer (Anarkia) is based on the story of Zarqa Al-Yamama, namely: the blue eyes, the keen foresight and the ability to tell ahead of time. At the end of the day, however, she was also turned into a scapegoat because people refused to believe what she had to say. Although it may be true in Path to Nowhere's progression, where she has had to be shunned for believing in the Dreamflower.
Zarqa's eyesight were described to be "able to distinguish grey hair in white milk, and spot travellers a day and night away. More so that darkness would enhance her vision."
Arabs to this day still use a saying to talk of her eyesight, saying "as sharp as Zarqa's sight".
i want to talk about a lil thing that stargazer has and it's her double standards about being one's true self.
she admits to putting on a disguise in the story, which means that she is aware that she is not being overly honest or open, especially about her vulnerabilities. her entire story is about realising the bit that she is actually more hopeful than she would like to admit. she wants forgiveness and someone to believe in her, even if she says she has never felt alone throughout her years of being condemned and isolated.
she has an eye for both foresight and determining someone's real self beneath their persona, but at the same time wears a mask to be "passable", or "to communicate" herself. she expresses a sense of dislike towards others who are not being their true self, and adores those who do.
this same foresight feels like an ability she has always had, rather than something that was amplified due to mania (and came with the advent of her being a sinner)
however, her mutation assessment was recorded as her having formed a connection with the void (akin to a kind of unique horror; that of a cosmic space and spirits untouchable by others), which allows her to manipulate that horror and attack with it. which means that she also has the ability to perceive "tears" between "realms", which opened up her path to perceiving the void in a much evident clarity than others.
not only that, she also describes her awakening as having travelled the Door of Void, through which she saw the Realm of Truth, and the manifestation of this door and realm and this ability to see DisCity and its realm was through the Dreamflower, a flower that had its own will.
which, to Drakenier fans, might be familiar with - is similar to the Black Flower, or The Flower entity from Drakengard. This Flower took root in a girl's body as she was dying and turned her into an Intoner (a being akin to that of a God in Drakengard's realm, someone who possess vast magic manipulation capabilities through songs)
The Flower, similar to the Dreamflower, have the same goal: to eventually bring about the world's ruin, through a woman's body
the singing bit is also a very interesting point to call out to! because anarkia was found dancing and singing on her own under the moonlight, when she is away from others, and presumably, being her true self that she hides
since everyone's got some spicy stuff today, i feel like i could share a few of anarkia's inclinations.
considering her solitary nature, it is likely that she has partaken in sex for benefits and advantages more than she has partaken in sex for intimacy. i do feel like she would prefer it accompanied with intimacy or friendship, or something akin to someone's trust in her (which is typically the aspect that the people around her lack)
naturally, when it comes to the benefits and advantages of relieving said tension, it matters very little to her with whom she does it with. as long as the person is decent, she will entertain them. (and by decent it means they're honest or not a misogynistic prick. she can and will entertain flirts, as long as they're not doing it just for the brownie points of doing it with her specifically. basically, as long as she is treated as a human being)
when she does participate, she prefers to take the lead. control has to be within her grasp, because she is accustomed to being the one who can perceive any danger, premonition or the person's soul (and how it reflects upon their visage). for that, she is somewhat of a controller - she wants the outcome to align with her views, and therefore she has to be the one playing top.
however, with someone she can trust, she is more than willing to be taken for a dance. placing her heart in somebody's hand is an act of love itself, and she would gladly let them take the lead and treat her to a world of ecstasy.
and a crossover ship: stargazer x irelia (league of legends).
honestly this is my biggest excuse for having a league AU for stargazer and it's just because i wanted the story of a desert wanderer to meet a fellow dancer. both of them are physically creatives, and spend their solitary nights expressing their feelings through movement. for the desert's wild rose to meet the lush expressions of the east, it might actually be the start to a new art - and its preservation.
it is not a very well-known aspect of stargazer's, and in fact, probably under-acknowledged - that she sings and dances on her own. it is also due to the spiritual undertones of ionia and stargazer's being able to see the future and interact with specters, so i really would like to be able to write this properly someday, so they can exchange their perspectives on these.
but also, the idea that irelia might seek out her foresight - as some sort of guidance. ah. yummy. the possible conflict because her powers might actually be reflective of a certain ionian exile. yum.
stargazer x zoya claimed me so early on you have no idea-
it is probably one of the few that's out there, and it's probably something that a lot of people probably don't see because they don't exactly have a canon interaction in the game itself.
but to me, the idea that they're both so similar in core personality (stubborn and wanting to claim the future, or a form of power because nobody else have that) while having completely different approaches (stargazer's is more introspective, while zoya is everything tangible) encapsulates them. zoya is someone who has had to undergo one of the most evident reflection in the main story, while most sinners whose stories are told in their exclusive event stories have this privilege as well, but more contained to sinner/chief interactions.
the relationship between these two is tumultuous, passionate; yet somehow they are unable to compromise on certain things. it's so much more than the mutual desire for each other.
