It was one of those rare times where he managed to get off work early. Sadly it was nothing to celebrate about that day.
There had been some manner of disorder going on within the gritty alleys of Shinjuku, agitation and spite boiling up and rising to the surface. They had begun making their presence known by starting riots and tagging walls around the city with antipathetic graffiti. What unnerved him the most was the fact that all the aversion was apparently being directed at Matenrō.
Being on top sure did come with a price...
And to top it all off, he just received a little ‘memo’ that he knew he had to inform Jakurai about. Thus Doppo headed towards the district’s central hospital, making a beeline for the doctor’s office.
The troubled salary man found himself at the doorway before long, fiddling with his lanyard out of habit as he spoke. “Jakurai-sensei... I’m sorry for coming over unannounced like this, but...”
There was no use beating around the bush. He pulled out his phone then. “I... think it would be better if I showed you.” And he did, holding it up to the other. The screen displayed several text messages by an unknown sender, each increasingly hostile. The last one in particular, was a clear indication of a challenge. He did wonder if Jakurai had received anything similar.
“Should...should we do something? I guess it could just be a prank... th-then again...”
