Fang happened to be drinking a bit more of her coffee when the mention of Snow Jr came up. Choking was a natural reaction to such an idea. Putting her mug down, she shifted to cough it all out of her system and glanced to Angela with a red face. “I’m perfectly all right with adopting as an option over those ideas. But, if you want to try to have a child the natural way, I won’t stop you from trying but I can’t be the one to bring the child into the world.”

angela let out a sigh. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to imply that you’re lying. you’re not a liar, you’re the most honest person I know. I’m sorry.” she sipped her coffee. “I’m 37. if things were different.” the doktor leaned against the counter. “how would we? I’m sterile from all of my experiments and I can’t imagine you pregnant.”

“You can’t anyway as I am also sterile but adoption is always an option if we desired to go forward with it. I know work always comes first for you but if in the future things change, I’m open to the idea of family. Giving a kid things I didn’t stand a chance with when I had been their age.”

angela choked on her coffee. “there’s no way I said that. that’s not anything I would say. how would that work? “

she looked down. “if things were different, then yes, but it’s not in the cards”

Catching her choking, Fang set her mug to the side and listened as she regained her ability to speak. Being called a liar, Fang did her best to keep still as Angela went on.

“You did say it. I do not lie, especially to you. I will give you the benefit of the doubt as you were partly asleep when you muttered it.”

Work ruled their lives and Fang couldn’t grudge her that. Nonetheless, to be tempted by the idea hurt.

angela mumbled something about how she loved fang before passing out. the next morning, she was in the kitchen sipping her coffee and had no memory of what she had said the night before

Fang eventually moved to join her for coffee and rubbed sleep from her eyes. The question from last night was not forgotten however to her. Deciding to act on it, Fang drank a bit of coffee and settled to glance toward Angela. “You spoke of wanting a family last night, do you still feel that way this morning?”

angela was half asleep, “fang. what if we had a family”

Fang was still awake enough to catch what was asked as she curled more against her lover. Kissing her cheek, she gave it some thought. “I would not mind that at all but this is new for you. Aren’t you always work comes before everything?” Shifting, she settled a hand on Angela’s side and looked to her. Sure she was partly half asleep, but she spoke her mind. “What made you consider such a thing?”

‘ no, no, this can’t be happening. these kinds of things don’t happen to people like me. ’

“What’s wrong?“ It was obvious whatever had Angela so upset had Fang a bit on edge. She was concerned over her partner after all.

angela snuggled close to fang. “You know, i think of some strong oerban decided to propose to me, I might say yes. but. it has to be a surprise.”

Fang was content in the moment with her lady until it dawned on her the words spoken. Shifting to look to her, she felt surprised by them. She had recalled once thinking Mercy was not the marrying type simply due to her work.

“Oh really now? Well then, I can make it a surprise.”
