Sometimes the last thing you want to do when you get home, is practice, but with a rehearsal space this beautiful, it makes it really easy.
So contrary to what a lot of people may think, one of the reasons I love playing flute, and even more so, piccolo, is because it gives me a sense of power. The broad dynamic and emotional range these instruments give me is truly magnificent. As someone who struggles with conveying emotions verbally sometimes, I can really let everything out when I'm playing flute and it gives you such a magical feeling. With this instrument I can demand the attention of the audience, but also play a strong supporting role to other instruments and really blend into their timbres and create a magical experience. Much like how an artist has a tool box filled with their brushes and paints, the flutes I'm playing, whether bass, alto, c flute, or piccolo, act as brushes, and with them I can create a vast range of colours and washes, it's truly beautiful.
