Ruby was washing her blood stained hands in the kitchen sink, scrubbing hard to try and get the stubborn dried streaks off. She heard the girl come in behind her and Ruby paused, she didn’t want her to see her covered in so much gore. She had thought she was alone. Pink water swirled down the sink in the moment of silence.

“do i have idiot written on my forehead?” josh pulled his eyes away from the road ahead of them to glance towards his ex, raising his eyebrows slightly. “i just feel like i must because you call and i come running every time,” he muttered mostly to himself, shaking his head. his fingers flexed around the steering wheel before as he pulled around another corner before abruptly pulling in to the side of the road, thankfully it was late at night and the roads were quiet. “what’s your deal, anyway?”

it had been a few years now that she’d been on her own, usually pushed in the right direction by her father but occasionally finding her own hunts, her own target. she was blooming into something strong - a force to be reckoned with, always underestimated when the monsters got a look at her. 

they regretted it almost immediately. 

it was just another hunt, really; a ghoul who’d gotten out of control, preying on the living instead of merely the dead. she didn’t expect there to be any trouble, but it was startling to realize she wasn’t the only hunter working the case. it didn’t happen often - most hunters stuck to a certain radius to eradicate, but dean moved around so often that it wasn’t exactly the first time, either. 

she cornered them in the diner - best pie in the state! advertised in the window - sliding into the booth across from them with a smile. 

“let’s skip the pleasantries,” she said by way of greeting - she had never enjoyed small talk. “you’re working the ghoul case, and so am i. i dunno about you, but i rarely hear of hunters working well together, so you can head back home - i got this.”

Dawn loaded the gun automatically. It had been years but the skills didn’t seem to have an expiry date. She had sprinted through the quarantine area but managed to find the weapon next to a dead soldier before picking up a trail of townspeople. She needed a car, or even a bike. Anything that would make her faster than the people in her town that were bleeding black blood. She skidded into a different hallway of the temporary facility and paused to try to catch her breath. When she heard a sound she spun around with the gun raised to see someone who she vaguely recognized. “Are you– are you infected?” She gasped, glancing behind her as she heard the mass of bodies following her trail. “Fuck!” Dawn shook her head then pushed past them. She needed to keep going, not worry about anyone else.

“C’mon. Are you really trying to fight with me about Tums? You will take them but fall asleep with them in your mouth. That then stains our sheets.” She said as she let out a groan. “Do you know how much time it takes to use the tide pen to get those colorful ass stains out of our sheets?” Noelle asked, raising her brow.

“  come  on  ,  we  don’t  have  a  lot  of  time  and  trust  me  ,  i  can’t  wait  another  six  hours  for  a  kiss  .  “  addie  said  ,  dragging  her  girlfriend  away  from  the  crowds  that  filled  the  whole  park  ,  still  in  costume  .  she  was  never  one  to  follow  rules  ,  this  instance  being  no  different  .  plus  ,  if  she  pulled  her  far  enough  away  ,  who  would  even  see  ?  “  okay  ,  okay  ,  i  think  we’re  in  the  clear  .  “  she  stated  ,  checking  her  surroundings  one  last  time  before  pulling  the  girl  ,  dressed  in  her  rapunzel  costume  ,  closer  to  her  body  .  her  hands  found  their  way  to  the  girls  cheeks  as  she  pressed  her  red  stained  lips  against  hers  .  she  let  the  kiss  linger  ,  that  was  until  she  heard  the  voice  of  a  child  asking  why  two  princesses  were  kissing  .  the  dark  haired  girl  pulled  back  quickly  ,  eyes  wide  with  fear  .  she  had  thought  they  were  far  enough  away  that  nobody  could  see  them  but  it  became  very  evident  that  she  was  wrong  .  she  let  out  her  classic  snow  white  giggle  ,  turning  her  body  towards  the  young  boy  .  “  oh  no  ,  you  see  ,  we  weren’t  kissing  .  “  she  let  out  ,  unsure  of  what  excuse  to  make  up  that  sounded  halfway  believable  .  (  @heartbloomed​  )
