I'd like to take a moment to reminisce about my childhood. This song and show, right here. Hearts of Fencing. This was what my childhood revolved around. This show was the one that got me so into TVB.
Looking back, a lot of people said this drama wasn't very good and too teeny-bopper. But seriously, I prefer a light-hearted, comedy drama introducing newbie actors like this over casting them in large roles in serious dramas. I prefer an innocent, happy story with interestingly plain characters over complicated stories now with newbies in so much make-up and showing off so much skin all the time.
It's so great now to see how far certain actors have come since their debut in HoF. Most notable is probably Chris Lai, Natalie Tong, and Elaine Yiu. It's like I grew up watching them become more famous, mature, and better actors. I watched them grow. Seeing them so young here makes me suddenly feel really old.
I wanted to cry when I watched this video. I did cry. It's been almost 10 years. SO MUCH NOSTALGIA. I remember I had a huge crush on Chris' character. Natalie and Elaine's characters were super cute, too. I think Chris and Race Wong were one of my childhood OTPs...I loved their story.
I remember wondering how my high school life would be from watching this drama. It seemed so nice; I loved the friendship between all the characters. Also, the fencing parts were so epic and cool! I remember hoping that my high school would have a fencing club, too.
Now, I'm in University. About to start my second year. Oh my god, where did the time go? D: I really, REALLY want to re-watch this and remember what joy my 10 year old self felt when she discovered TVB dramas.
