My Heather family hc is that her family doesn't give a single fuck about her.
Her siblings and her parents, never liked her and never cared. So she kinda grew up to not give a fuck about them ethier.
In a way, they were glad Heather turned out to be mean because it gave them an excuse to dislike her (even though she turned out to be mean because of them)
One of the things Heather wanted to do after getting the money was moving out as soon as possible.
Heather kept coming back to the show because it was both an escape from her home and a chance to not come back. For the record, her family wanted her to win because it would mean she would move out (ofc, if she won they would suddenly start being nice to her so they can get some money).
I'm pretty sure at some point in the show Gwen said something along the lines "Your parents must love this show, gets you out of the house!" (I am 99% sure she said to Heather but chances are she said it to Courtney correct me if I'm wrong)
I think that would hurt her a bit. Because she knows it's true.
