Here she was in the kitchen, politely demanding (for once) to get a taste of his signature drink, and a flick to the forehead was the payment she got for letting curiosity entice her?
“Hmph!-“ Upon impact, a small noise escaped from Charmaine. She squeezed her eyes shut as her head nudged backward. While Aki's antics barely came as a surprise anymore, they still managed to evoke feelings of mild annoyance in her, and this time was no an exception. Why she tolerated this to begin with was a mystery even to her.
Once sensing that she clear of any further danger, Charmaine opened her eyes as she let the salesman continue speaking. Furrowing her eyebrows, she rubbed the spot on her forehead he had flicked.
Beef stew again? They had that a few days ago as well.
Soon however, she drew her attention to the glass of water that he'd brought, and any prior feelings of annoyance were promptly replaced with intrigue. Green eyes observed intently as Aki like a magician transformed the clear liquid into what she could only assume was heavenly wine.
With held-back eager, Charmaine reached for the drink, though released a huff when he decided to pull it away just to instruct her to get tissues first. She rolled her eyes. Seriously, how great could this wine be that it’d practically bring people to tears? She could hardly imagine herself beginning to weep over the taste of some wine. As a matter of fact, she wasn't that fond of wine. (Usually, she preferred the sweeter taste of soju).
She peered at the glass, then at Aki as if trying to figure whether or not she could get away with telling him that she wouldn’t be needing tissues. He wasn't trying to pull another prank on her, was he? Ugh, but she was curious and had no desire to risk further delay caused by his teasing — especially not when she had an impulse like this to gratify.
So, the conclusion? Fine. Reluctantly, Charmaine let the hovering hand fall back to her side and went to grab a box of tissues from the kitchen counter. She dropped it in front of him on the dinner table. "Happy?" She raised an eyebrow, tilting her head to the side as she waited for his approval.
Mmm.. upon further thought, perhaps she could seize this as an opportunity. An opportunity to- then as if a switch to a light bulb had been flipped inside her mind, a smirk of curled itself onto her lip. Placing her hands flat on the table, she leaned forward. “You know what? How about we make a bet, yeah?” Hopefully, he’d agree to it because there was no way she was going to lose.
