Our New Judaica High School - First Report
Our new high school students are really enjoying their new program. Over the last couple of weeks, they've learned the layout of the entire Tanach, as well as the how's and why's of the divisions. At their first class, they were allowed to select any biblical characters that wished to learn more about. Those chosen were Jonah, Ezekiel, Isaiah and Daniel, with one additional request to learn about the generation of people who decided to build the Tower of Babel. We spent two sessions discussing Jonah and the numerous messages that we can see in his story, as well as the many hints that help us begin to focus on the time and place where he lived. The two favorite elective subjects chosen were conversational Hebrew with reading brush-up and "Hot Topics! And what would a learning session in our school be without throwing in a ethical situation as found in the excellent texts, "You Be the Judge" 1, 2 & 3. Finally, as promised in our published curriculum, we throw in some "hands-on" classes and the students are looking forward to their first one tonight, when we bake some of Ms. Ruth's famous, "Cinnamon Tastees," as well as two challot.
And if you have a teen in grades 8-12, it's not to late to enroll them in our new Judaica High School. Send us message here on Facebook or drop us a line at [email protected].
