High Priests during bible times would make sacrifices for the people and himself, since he was not perfect. This was setting the example for Jesus who would come in as the PERFECT High Priest. He took our sins upon himself, and sacrificed himself, so that we might be saved.
We need to grow in our walk with Christ. We cannot always be infants in our faith. We need to mature and read his words and try to live for God EVERYDAY. We need to no longer live on milk, but we need to live on solid food.
