Fluff request incoming! Ophaniel & Narcissus (& friends if you want) + playing a game together
I got distracted and this took too long, oops. And since it’s better with friends, Emrys belongs to @shy-necromancer
Besidehim, Narcissus sighed for the nth time in the span of only threeminutes. They had only started their fourthgame, and Ophaniel could tell how much he was struggling with allthose rules. Rummy was kind of new to him too, as he had never beenused to play card games with his parents duringhis childhood, leastof allwith friends.
Andhe had the best ones sitting at this table.
Nevaehwas sitting on his right, a pen between his teeth and round fakeglasses on his nose, anddidn’t look worry at all about his hand. Ophaniel could bet by justlooking at the way that pen moved that Nevaeh would be the first oneto go out.
Facinghim, Emrys had stuck his tongue out, focusedon counting his own points, eyes shining. When he caught Ophanielstaring at him, Emrys flashed him his biggest smile and danced on hischair. Well, another one who wouldn’t take long to go out.
Aquick look to Narcissus, and Ophaniel dared putting a hand on hisknees even if that meant risking dropping all of his cards. Atleast, Narcissus had no difficulties holding allof them in his hands.
Ashe looked backathis hand, a smile crept on his lips;he only needed fifteen more points and then he wouldput them all on the table and finish the game likea boss. In no way was he going to lose that one, he had already losttoo many times. ‘Too many times’to Ophaniel meant once.
“Doyou need help, kitten?” He asked as he discarded one card.
“NoI’m fine, I can do it alone.”
“Ifthere’s something you still don’t understand, ask and I’llexplain it to you again.”
“Well, fifty one points, atleast one run of minimum three consecutive cards, aces count aseither one point or eleven, and I can’t lay off a card on your sideas long as I’m not out. That’s it?”
“Yes,perfect!” Nevaeh smiled to him, picking a card from the pile.“You’re a quick learner.”
Twoturns passed, one during which Nevaeh had laid almost all of hiscards on the table, and Narcissus’ hands were now too full ofcards.
“Yousure you don’t need help?” Ophaniel asked him as he slid closerto him. “Show me your cards, I’m sure you have the points.”
Pouting,he let him look, cheekson fire when Ophaniel giggled and told him he had more than therequired points.
Anotherturn passed. Nevaeh finished the game first, soon followed by Emrys.Narcissus had a chance to finish next, Ophaniel may had only threecards in his hands, he looked like he could do nothing with them.Happinessburst into his chest, victory was his, it was so close.
ButOphaniel put two of his cards on Nevaeh’s side, and discarded hislast one. He won.
“How?!”Narcissus threw his cards on the table. “How?! I was about tofinish!”
“Sorrykitten,” he winked, “next time?”
“Youall cheated!”
“Promisewe didn’t.”
IgnoringEmrys’ comment, he stoodup and continued,“Now I got a hundred points andI’m last!”
“Actually,”Nevaeh started, “you’re only second to last. Ophaniel is.”
“Excuseme?”
Narcissusgloated, the biggest grin he ever had stretched his lips. And asOphaniel demanded that Nevaeh count their points again, Narcissusdanced, chanting again and again ‘You lost! You lost!’
