♡ Our muses accidentally falling asleep together
Giggling was something that Iroh had grown accustomed to over the years. Being the Crowned Prince of the Fire Nation; you had to get used to that sort of thing. Whenever he’d walk outside of the palace, whenever he’d accompanied his nanny to the market--giggling. Constant giggling.
But he had to admit that the ridiculous sound hadn’t reached his ears in quite a long time. He assumed the reason was due to his change of scenery. The United Forces would look down on giggling for sure. Yet here it was...that strange, high pitched annoying sound that had cursed his youth.
His eyes opened and he was immediately aware of himself, a trick he had learned during basic training. His body was stretched out in an awkward sort of half sitting half laying down sort of pose. Clothes were on in full, including his boots and--
He looked down and saw the reason for the giggling. Asami was draped over him in a deep content sleep.
He froze. He wasn’t sure if it was to prevent waking her, or if it was because he was simply at a loss for what to do.
He shot a look over to Ikki who was the source of the giggling, and gave her his most serious face. She stopped giggling immediately and zoomed out of the room on an air ball as fast as she could--though he was sure he heard continued giggling once she was out.
He hadn’t remembered Asami being there when he had arrived. Tenzin had been in a meeting with Korra when he showed up to speak with him, so he had been told to wait on the couch. It was slightly embarrassing that he had fallen asleep, but the thick smelling incense of the island had always lulled him to sleep as a boy--and he was kind of exhausted lately.
At some point, Asami must have come to sit on the couch as well and was probably overcome by the incense’s powers as well...or at least he thought.
He rose slowly, straightening his pose and sitting up properly. She didn’t stir. Her breathing was soft and even. He kind of hated to wake her--he wasn’t sure if she too, was having trouble sleeping lately or not, and he didn’t want to interrupt perhaps the only sleep she had gotten in a few days. But the sky outside was beginning to pink, and he knew he’d have to at least report back to base where he was, soon.
“Asami?” He said gently, wrapping his arm around her shoulder and giving her a soft shake.
