"Mama... I know you would never ask me to change, but I was thinking after the last trip..." Just entering her teens, it wasn't surprising Hel become more conscientious of her appearance and how others responded to it. "I've been working on an illusion. Only for when we aren't home." And with a moment's concentration, her skin appeared uniform as she looked up to her mother with eyes bright as ever, but seeking approval. "Does it look okay?" ~heldrottning
Of course, my dearest”, she replies, turning her attention towards Hel and away from the maps before her on the table. The Chieftain watches her beloved daughter with intent. Angrboda knows that her youngest is her consort’s child as well: deeply intelligent and wilful.
There is much she wishes to say at first. The display of her growing power is fantastic and there is a profound sense of pride within the Chieftain. A more critical side of her wishes to know why she would be so self-conscious. Angrboda has always seen her daughter’s figure as how she sees herself: frightening. Menacing. Worthy of respect. But she also wants her daughter to not doubt herself, for she is worthy of awe.
“You look fierce, my child”, the Chieftain answers finally, smiling ever so softly and proudly. “I see your father’s lessons have improved your skills greatly.”
