“You know if you keep making that face it will freeze like that” Helaena smiled as she sat a fresh cup of tea in front of her cofounder and friend. She had just finished Herbology lessons for the day so she was spending some time in the teachers lounge, working on lesson plans and just doing some housekeeping. She had noticed Salazar looking particularly perturbed over something but she wouldn’t pry, if he wished to tell her he would. “Cream, sugar or honey?” The blonde offered, using her wand to bring the tray over to their table.

“Remember class this semesters midterm will be graded on how well you produce and hold your patronus as well as how it wards off a simulated dementor. If you have any questions please stop by my office after class” Helga smiled as she dismissed the class, waving them off as she headed up to her office. She had been hesitant about taking the post of Defense teacher, but it was quite rewarding now that she had gotten the hang of it. With a soft sigh, she waved her wand and set her teapot to warming as she sank down into her plush yellow draped office chair.   The knock on her door interrupting her downtime “come in” she called, straightening up in her seat.

“How in the world did you manage this?” Helga frowned at the man before her, she had taken over her father’s job a year or so ago, tending to the wounded in their ‘family’. This granted her, her own practice, which sadly tended to remain open later and later these days-- she worried some kind of war was brewing as many calls as she’d received in the last week alone. With a soft sigh, the gentle blonde moved to get what she needed ready “you’ll need stitches I’m afraid-- do you want me to numb the area before I start?” Some didn’t-- took the pain as a badge of honor.

Helga had not chosen the mafia lifestyle, she had been born into it, her father had been partners with Godric and after his death she was taken in by his family. She owed them so much, and if she could help-- even in just tending to the wounded of the family, she was happy to do so. On this night it was quiet, she was reading in the living room when she heard the front door open and close, she didn't have to look up to know who it was, she only smiled "welcome home, Godric-- how was your meeting?"

The blonde finally sat her book to the side and rose to greet him properly, the ever warm and sunny blonde a vision in yellow.

This was not quite the life that Helga had dreamed of when she was a girl, there was no grand castle or a dashing prince, instead there was a small wooded cottage with a beautiful garden and an even more beautiful woman to love her. She felt truly fortuned to have escaped her father’s desires for her to marry a pureblooded noble, those dreams were dashed the day she met Rowena . She had been the most beautiful witch Helga had ever seen, and so smart, witty and kind. It was impossible not to fall in love with her.  The blonde had fallen hard and when her wedding crept even closer she packed what she could and took off in the night, leaving behind a note saying goodbye to her family and made for the deepest part of the forest, past where most men would dare go and followed a trail of what looked like starlight, but she knew better than that.  It brought her to the cottage and as if knowing she was coming to her, there was Rowena, beautiful as ever and it made her leap from her horse and run to her.

 “Do try not to be too put out, Godric-- it was a fair game, my kids just happened to win this time” Helga smiled, patting her fellow founder on the shoulder. It was a beautiful fall day and the quidditch match had been quite a nail biter, however in the end it was the Hufflepuff seeker who caught the snitch and won the game. The students around them were celebrating in various stages and the lithe blonde was almost swept away more than once in the crowd. She kept close to Godric in the hopes to avoid doing so once more and instead offered some light gloating, something she was sure he himself did often.    “You still beat Slytherin and Ravenclaw this season” Helga pointed out, still wanting to be helpful even now.

“If you keep making that face it will freeze like that” Helga commented from her spot perched in the window, book on charms in one hand and a rapidly cooling cup of tea at her side, all but forgotten. The sun trickling through the stained glass felt warm on her skin, giving the woman a sense of ease and comfort. “Whatever will we tell the children then-- they already find you quite terrifying, no need to make it worse” the blonde teased, offering a smile over the top of her book.

Another ball, another excuse for her parents to push her into the arms of the neighboring kingdom’s heir. Honestly Helga was wondering if the only reason they did this was to keep pushing them together-- they spent a fortune on food and decor, a new dress and jewels for her, that she feared the kingdom would go broke before they relented and agreed to the engagement. At this point it was just a race to see who would break first. 

But none the less she approached the other with a soft smile, ever sweet “this makes four balls in as many months, they must be getting despite” she teased, taking the empty seat, her wine glass still in hand.
