Pierce the Veil is one of my all-time favorite bands. It is a band that I can simply lose myself for hours in listening to their entire discography, which is truly impressive and timeless. This song, however, holds a particular special place in my heart. Not only is it the first song I ever heard from them, but the meaning is what truly hooked me on them. Hell Above centers around themes of isolation, emotional turmoil, and finding temporary solace in relationships, music, or other events. The instrumentals and vocals are a bit heavier than most of the entries here, but that is what truly captivates me. The lyrics speak of a person surrounded in a hostile environment, seeking connection with other equally struggling people who find a limited refuge in places where they finally feel seen or belong. A song that has resonated with me since I discovered it and has helped me overcome the downsides of life's difficulties.
