In case you can’t read my horrible handwriting: Steve dies from brain damage after being hit one too many times by the Russians and dies in Dustin and Robin’s arms, becoming a ghost.
Realizing he’s an obstacle in their road to recovering from trauma, he tries to haunt the town instead and eventually starts haunting Eddie just to fuck with him. Then Eddie ends up seeing him bcoz he starts believing in ghosts (Jack Frost logic) and all hell breaks loose.
Eddie becomes rather fond of him though, eventually falling in love with Steve. He tries to tell the hellfire gang but they don’t believe him at first.
Gareth is the second one to believe when Steve has a rare crashout and rains a game of checkers down onto him, scaring him into belief.
eventually the hellfire club basically adopts him and lots of shenanigans and bonding ensues (with a little bit of angst). Baking cookies, band practice, Steddie falling in love and a dance scene where Steve goes solid enough to touch him, and general mischief.
Dustin however is in a very bad place mentally, think season 5 era Dustin. He blames himself for Steve’s death, especially after learning the brain trauma first began when Billy hit Steve with a plate. He’s isolating himself just like Max…
