Bayou Billie lives in the muck of the south. He helps lost travelers escape from the deep swamps before they get eaten by alligators or bitten by snakes. All he asks for in return is one of their fingers to add to his necklace. What a kind feller!
(helpful monster) "I meant other people who might get attacked, but thanks for the run down on the monsters. Yea, I remember my family, they don't really remember me. Or at least, they try not too." A resounding smash mixed with the hissing of steam echos out of the darkness, much too close for comfort. " There is now way that was X," Their voice just above a whisper now.
"The only other person in this house is.. well, he's very safe."
His lips curved into a brief frown. At the loud smash, however, the bot hissed in pain and clasped one hand to his ear, the sound ten times louder to his sensitive audioreceptors.
"Shit, shit, shit.."
His eyes turned towards the sound, and he tensed.
"That.. that isn't good, I reckon."
(Helpful monster) They wince as they fall in behind you, still keeping out of the light. "Sorry for insulting family. I keep forgetting that most families stick up for each other, unlike mine. Hey, there anyone else we should be looking for while we're out here?" They sound almost bored now, the possibility of being attacked and possibly killed not seeming to phase them in the least.
"Uhm.. looking for? Monsters made of metal. They're Becile-made and they'll kill your ass in ten seconds flat if you're not careful."
He grimaced, hearing the growl of a furnace and the rumble of forming smoke distantly in the house. This wasn't going to be pleasant.
"Anyhow.. so you're one of the kind that remember their family? Good on you. Most monsters lose their minds."
(helpful monster) "Alright then." There's more clicking, and the eyes move off in the direction of the door. "While we're talking about the drunk- what you call him, X?- why do you keep him around? He doesn't seem like he would be all that useful, or that you would get along with him, even a little bit. So, why?"
He glanced at the monster and headed towards the door, his little circle of light following him as he went. The bot sort've scowled at the question of why he kept Peter X around.
"X is family. I don't leave family, regardless of how useless or strange or pathetic they are.. and he's a brilliant man when he's not drinking, I assure you."
(helpful monster) "As long as you don't accidentally shoot me in the back, I'm glad to help." A grey, lion like tail flicks in and out of sight, it's owner unaware of it doing so. "What do you want to do first? Go find that drunk that's always wondering about, or start hunting for monsters?"
"I'll, erm.. make sure t'do that."
He adjusted his tie a little, gaze lowering to the tail.
"And as for that, I'd rather not, erm.. hunt the monsters as of yet. Perhaps finding X would be better."
In all honesty, he just didn't want to hear what the monsters said.
"Whoa, easy there." More clicking as they shift, slightly nervous now. " I may be a monster, but I'm not like those ones wondering around outside. I'm still mostly human." A hand comes into view briefly, human except for the short, curves claws replacing nails. It disappears as they continue. " I've been hanging around, saw that the power went out. Figured you might want someone else that can see in the dark AND fight."
Squiggly calmed down a little. His shoulders slouched, relaxing a little, but he kept his lantern close for the sake of security. Most monsters weren't a fan of the light.. at least, the monsters that came out in the dark were.
"Mostly human? That.. is a relief, I suppose."
Green photoreceptors peered through the dark, squinting a bit.
"If you're willing to help, that's fantastic. I'm always glad for assistance."
There's a clicking sound as something approaches in the darkened HOW, carefully staying out of the small circle of light. The only thing that is visible are a set of orange eyes, that seem to glow of their own power, like hot coals. While the eyes are threatening, the voice that calls out is light and casual. " 'Sup squiggly. How's it going?"
His eyes narrowed, boilers rumbling as he expelled a hiss of steam into the air. His nightvision had been temporarily turned off when the creature approached, and seeing orange eyes glowing distantly beyond only reminded him of an affliction he'd barely escaped. He scowled bitterly.
"I'm going to take a fucking guess and say you're a monster, since I can't tell anymore when I don't hear growls and there's nothing to see.. fuck's sake. The hell do you want?"
He was hesitant to fire his blaster. Something about understanding them made him feel like shooting with cause was a dicky move.
