I think it would depend. At what point in the story they meet and whether they remember recognise each other.

Ford is conscious! The whole “lobotomy” thing is more meant to be a joke. He’s actually very similar to his canon self, except that he’s riddled with guilt and shame and despair and when he smiles the light never really seems to reach his eyes. He spends a lot of his time appearing catatonic, staring through windows or at walls, seemingly deep in thought but who’s to say?

Ford believes “mabel” has been fully destroyed. Ford blames himself for that. All that’s left of her, “shooting star”, isn’t who she was. Although occasionally shooting star will do something so similar to mabel that it’ll give him a glimmer of hope that there would be someway to get mabel back, that hope is pretty much immediately quashed by the reality of the situation. Ford doesn’t hold the things shooting star does against her because ultimately he thinks he’s the one to blame for the way she is.

Sometimes Ford is afraid of her.
