Flooding in Hendersonville, NC Update
I was able to hear back from my friend this morning. I'm thankful to say that her and her family are alright. About 50 trees down on their property. No power, gas or Internet but they at least have food and water.
One of their neighbors was nearly killed after his car was hit by a tree while trying to check in on his elderly mother nextdoor. And another neighbor had a tree fall on their roof.
She's received pictures of main street and it's flooded. Everyone is likely to be out of work for several weeks. They have one road out they can use if they run out of food. It heads down to South Carolina and there's no guarantee that the car will even make it.
They're still far better off than other folks. They've been getting news via radio right now. I'm keeping in contact with her and will do what I can to help. From what she's heard, the entire electrical grid in these areas will need to be rebuilt.
This is your reminder to shut up about your vacation you had planned being ruined and you having to cancel those plans now. These areas desperately need help and fast.
