Small changes. Jeff Hawke’s Galileo.
My model of the “Galileo”, from the “Here Be Tygers” storyline in the Jeff Hawke newspaper strip. WIP.
I’m not sure I’ve got the proportions right, but in the strip they change from panel-to-panel so I can live with it :-) .
The Galileo resembles NASA’s proposed Jupiter Icy Moons Orbiter (JIMO) spacecraft (image 5). Which is weird because the comic’s from 1971, but the JIMO proposal’s from 2004. I wonder if the Galileo was based on an earlier real-world design.
In real life, assuming Galileo’s nuclear reactor is at the rear, it’s radiator fins should get wider towards the front, to keep them within the shadow of the reactor’s radiation shield and prevent neutron embrittlement. So it’s a bit like Space: 1999 Eagles - realistic-looking but not really realistic :-)
Jeff Hawke’s “Galileo” again.
Jeff Hawke’s “Galileo” from “Here Be Tygers”, in Bryce. WIP.

Here Be Tygers, Ep 13 - “Who Will Lead Us Next?”, with Eddie Turner
Joining today: Eddie Turner, a professional coach, host of Keep Leading, and author of 140 Simple Messages To Guide Emerging Leaders
Back in 2016, before Here Be Tygers was ever a name to this show, I started Jam Sessions as a sort of informal chat with folks about who they are, what they do and where they wanted to go.
Eddie was gracious enough to be our first guest and to this day I remain grateful to him for helping me onto a path where I could do the work that I love with people I know.
So here’s one last look to the past—on how folks tend to be more impressed by grey hair in leadership than in tech—before we return in September with a new episode on world building, currencies, and the things that we value most.
I hope you enjoy.
